More information about The Lookout

Property information

The Lookout is a traditional cottage which has been cleverly restyled with the addition of a contemporary, glazed, full height lounge. It's quirky! The slightly elevated position of the cottage provides uninterrupted views to the harbour, the play-park immediately beyond the garden and, on a clear day, across the sea to the hills of Sutherland and Caithness - truly panoramic. Filled with interesting artwork, vibrant colours and wooden furniture, the feel of the cottage is of a luxurious and comfortable beach house with all modern conveniences. Double doors from the lounge open onto a beach garden with fire-pit and decking, enhanced with cobbles and driftwood. Enjoy the afternoon sun here, eating out or just relaxing and watching the views. At night, once dark, this is a great vantage point to see the Northern Lights, keeping warm round the fire-pit.

A snug with a woodburning stove ensures a cosiness you will find hard to leave. However, venture out and the coastline has a lovely walk which follows a disused railway line and connects Hopeman to other coastal villages East and West including the fabulous beaches at Findhorn and Lossiemouth. Findhorn is just a 15 minute drive away where you will find a couple of cracking family pubs serving great seafood and there is also the Village Bakery for fabulous fresh bakes and food in general. The bakery is owned by the Findhorn Foundation (worth a visit).

We absolutely loved The Lookout. It's such a special house, beautifully furnished and decorated, (and immaculate)-we were so inspired by it! The views are to die for, it feels so light and spacious in the open plan kitchen/living room-just lovely spending family time around the huge, chunky kitchen table. And at night there's a lovely, comfortable snug with log burning stove for cosying up after days spent walking in forests, visiting castles or out on boat rides spotting elusive dolphins! At the end of the day the lovely beamed bedrooms have really comfortable beds and the master bedroom in particular is gorgeous being situated on a mezzanine with blue views for miles out to the sea.The perfect base for exploring the North East Coast and good for the soul!

We loved our stay at The Lookout, the house was lovely, a real home from home, very similar to our house. Its position was fantastic and the neighbours were friendly too! Hopeman was great, it’s not a part of Scotland we had been to before and we would definitely consider going back as we had a great week there. We don’t want too many people to know about it as it will get booked up too quick!
