Property information
Beachcombers occupies a truly magnificent position and commands panoramic views across the sea to the islands of Eriskay, Barra and beyond to the mountains of Rum. The view is just breathtaking and will surely mean that you hardly want to stray from this perfect holiday cottage! However, the beautiful, white shell beaches will lure you away to explore, but Beachcombers will always be a warm and welcoming base to return to.
The island of Eriskay has been made famous in the book and film Whisky Galore and the owner of the cottage was fortunate to find one of the long buried bottles of whisky from the sunken SS Politician. The bottle is now under glass and displayed in the cottage - an amazing piece of history.
The island of Barra is just a short ferry trip so easy to visit in a day and here you can see the planes landing on a cockle shell beach - subject to tides of course!
South Uist and North Uist are connected by a causeway so it is easy to tour both islands during your stay and those wishing to sail from Skye to North Uist can then drive down to Beachcombers in under an hour and a half.
The cottage was newly completed in early Spring 2016 and offers comfortable and welcoming accommodation with the luxury of 3 bedrooms and 3 shower rooms.
In addition there is a second cottage, identical to Beachcombers and called Rockpool alongside Beachcombers which works wonderfully for 2 families wishing to holiday together.

Gail MeekAn absolutely delightful house with a lovely owner, who could not have been more helpful or charming, the house was built by him with obvious care and thought. A lovely layout, warm and inviting with a fantastic view of the Sound of Eriskay, the site of the sinking of the SS Politician, with many birds, seals and otters to see. It’s quite remote which is exactly what we wanted but a co-op is only 10 minutes drive away. Ideal for visiting Eriskay across the causeway and onto Barra and Vatersay, which has a fantastic beach, by ferry. It’s also only 15 minutes from Lochboisdale ferry port. Well equipped with all mod cons you could need and privacy too. Very comfortable and yet modern with no clutter and a wee bit of history in a bottle of whisky from the Politician. Would definitely recommend.
