More information about Beach House

Property information

What an amazing location! Beach House is exactly that - a house on the shore. Access to Beach House is on foot along a 100 metre track and across a small bridge - or by driving along the shore at low tide with a 4 x 4 or other high wheel- base vehicle. Once at the house, the views are breath-taking giving panoramic views across the Sound of Raasay to the Isle of Raasay. Seals can frequently be seen in the water in front of the house as can otters, basking sharks and dolphins. The crags of Ben Tianavaig are the haunt of golden and sea eagles. From the summit of this hill you can see the isles of Harris and Lewis to the west and the Five Sisters of Kintail to the east - a fantastic panorama.

Camustianaviag is a small, secluded shore-side bay approximately 3 miles south of Portree which is a small but busy town with attractive shops, cafes and restaurants. Broadford is further south and also offers the same visitor attractions.

For those with a love of the sea this waterside house, which has the feel of a boat inside, is great for kayaking or sailing and fishing. Come prepared to be adventurous! The 'boat' feel to the house is further enhanced by the cabin-style bedrooms with platform beds - practical yet comfortable.

The main living room is just perfect for sea gazing and the large glassed area to the front is where you will want to spend most of the time. However, the kitchen and dining room are also spacious and contemporary, well equipped and ideal for entertaining.

Beach House is ideal for the active holiday maker who enjoys adventure and a challenge and is able to manage the short walk along the shore to the house. Its seclusion is its attraction!

This was our first time on Skye and we came to celebrate a 40th and 2nd Birthday. The Beach House has been a fantastic base to explore this dramatic and majestic land. We've had a lot of snow (too much to leave the house one day!) giant hail, thunder and lightning, rain of course, and spells of sunshine. We've enjoyed watching the seals, and the daily visit from the heron. Our favourite meal was in the Uig Hotel, fresh mussels + posh sandwiches, ideal after a morning hunting for Dinosaur footprints on Staffin Beach - awesome! We are all now re-arranging our house so that we too can have a pool table! Hopefully we will be able to squeeze one in we've all had so much fun and have improved so much over the week. Would love to return to this special place! (Cumbria 2017)

We've had 3 weeks here and enjoyed every minute. Rest Relaxation and comfort, what more could you ask for. We've seen seals and spectacular scenery. The weather has changed several times a day, and we've witnessed it all - fantastic! Beach House is in an enviable location and offers the perfect place to escape to. House-keeping was great too - thank you! welcome hamper and weekly flowers and treats were a lovely touch and unexpected. Thanks for letting us stay George! (Borders, November 2017)

Well equipped house in a beautiful location! We enjoyed many hours watching the seal and Otters. Brilliant trip to the fairie pools, Old Man of Storr and the Talker! Most of all walking "Ben Geary" with Ben Geary :) That house has everything you need to enjoy a comfortable family break, Especially the breathtaking views! Welcoming Hamper was a lovely touch after travelling for so long, very welcoming. Thank you George for letting us stay! (Yorkshire, Sept 2017)

Had such a fantastic holiday at the Beach House, after a few issues which were quickly addressed by George. (thank you). The welcome hamper and flower were such a lovely touch, the views were amazing + watching the seals everyday was fantastic. Our boys loved the pool table and iPad. We all had the most relaxing holiday and can't wait to come back. (Glasgow, July 2017)

Thank you for letting us stay in this idyllic spot. We have so enjoyed walking hop to such a beautiful view each morning. Like others we have seen seals, otter and Heron. We had an amazing time climbing the Old Man of Storr, the fairy pools, seeing the dinosaur beach, coral beach, and of course a must for all single malt whiskey fans, the Talisker distillery. Such a wonderfull holiday and amazing property. (York, May 2017)

Fantastic house, location and even the weather co-operated - mostly! Pool and Table tennis kept the boys well amused! Self and Bird watching. Recommend trips to Raasay and Fairy Glen! and the hill just outside the house. (Midlothian, May 2017)

Peace, Tranquility and comfort, couldn't ask for much more. Someone once said, "if you can see the cuillins, its going to rain, if you can't see them it's raining!" We are still waiting for rain! Weather has been fabulous. Dogs also had a ball and made friends with the seals in the bay. (West Lothian, May 2017)

A Wonderfull Weeks Holiday. The Beach House was even bigger than expected! With such beautiful views. One slight disappointment was no welcome hamper when we arrived, apart from that all was good. Lots of trips out, loved the fairy pools. April 2017

Celebrating Andys 50th Birthday. Great Location and a lovely homely interior. Saw Seals, otters, Sea Eagles, Robins, great tits, wagtails, many different gulls, buzzards, waders, hooded crows, all from the cottage! Would recommend a walk up Ben Tianaviag, around Scorrybreach coral beach, Talisker Beach, walk up to the Old Man of Store, but go early to avoid coach loads of tourists. March 2017. Essex

Thank you for a wonderfull stay. Fantastic location, warm and comfortable, perfect for our family holiday. We loved watching the seals from the house, and all the other wildlife as well as enjoying the fairy pools and the coral beach. We got a lot of practice at pool, and enjoyed the seats by the window to watch the sheep. February 2017, Oxford.

28th December 2016. Loved the house and really appreciated the Christmas tree, wreath etc. Very thoughtful. Granny hopes that the photo of her chasing sheep out of the garden won't be seen on youtube! We even saw one of the reclusive otters, and the seals. Recommend the beach at staffing bay. Recommend meals at the Taste of India, the Dales Pub and the Portree Hotel. Beautiful island, the rain did not stop us enjoying ourselves, and it has been warm all week unlike the mainland, altogether a great week.
  • Hellewell
August 2015. An incredible stay at the Beach House, don't bother with a boat trip! From the house we've seen otters, seals and on the final morning we spent half an hour watching a pod of dolphins. A moment we will never forget. The highlight was probably walking to the top of Ben Tianavaig with the children & seeing sea eagles en route and the views are to die for. All in all a memorable stay in a stunning house and location.
  • Bill and Irene
What a beautiful house and glorious location. Us 'yachters' loved the theme of boats throughout the house. The weather was very kind to us - only 2 days of sun & rain - the rest sunshine! Took home lots of good memories, many thanks for a memorable holiday.
  • Royer, 24th April 2015

Many thanks for a memorable holiday. Molly the dog says thank you for the treats - lovely touch!!!
