More information about Chapel House

Property information

Chapel House is one of two timber cottages set in a delightful sylvan setting in five acres of private cliff-top woodland. The woodland is at its best in the spring when a succession of primroses, wood anemones and bluebells may be seen and in the autumn when the colours are superb. In the winter there are views from the cottage of the loch and mountains beyond. The architect designed cottage has French doors in the living room which open out onto a timber deck that faces south and west and the double bedroom also has south-facing patio doors. The cottage has a woodburning stove and you will arrive to find a basket of logs, with further logs available to purchase. There is also electric heating, though as the cottage has been designed to ecological standards with double glazing and good insulation, little extra heating is required. The village of Diabeg is a small crofting community beyond Bealach na Gaoithe, one of the most beautiful west Highland passes, from which there are stunning views of Ben Alligin, Liathach and Upper Loch Torridon as well as south to Applecross and Skye. From Diabeg there is easy access to the Torridon Mountains for hill walking and there are also many fine cliff-top and lochside walks in the area. The village is home to the excellent Gillie Bridhde restaurant, set on the sore of the picturesque Diabeg Bay.

We’ve just come back from a week long stay at Chapel House and it was excellent. An amazing place to stay with peace and quiet and lovely views over the loch. Really well equipped, on arrival there was tea, coffee, milk and a lovely cake waiting for us. The kitchen had everything needed to make a variety of meals and all the other rooms were really comfy, the log fire in the lounge was wonderful on a night. Loads of great walks with beautiful views and wildlife to spot. The owners, Mary and Mervyn were lovely, respectful of your privacy but really helpful and friendly. They also had great suggestions on walks. We would recommend it to anyone, especially people who love walking, climbing or just some peace and quiet

We had a fantastic few days in Chapel House in April 2018. The cottage is cosy, comfortable and in a wonderful setting in birch woodland filled with wildlife. It was perfect to return to after a day out on the Torridon hills! The owner left us homemade lemon drizzle cake, as well as teas and coffee, which was lovely to arrive to after a long journey. The house feels very secluded along a single-track road from Torridon - a perfect location if you want a 'get away from it all' retreat! The views through the trees to Loch Torridon are spectacular.
