Property information

Greenhill Lodge, set in 7000 acres of heather-clad hills, the Cheviots, offers peace, tranquillity and total privacy between the historic towns of Kelso and Jedburgh. An ideal location for outdoor pursuits or celebratory gatherings.

Originally built in the Georgian period as a shooting lodge for the Roxburghshire estate, Greenhill has been totally refurbished to the highest standard, offering luxurious yet relaxing accommodation for 16 in the main lodge and four in the internally adjoining cottage.

The elegant drawing room and stunning dining room at the front of the house create the perfect ambience for entertaining – ideal for small weddings, family reunions, special celebrations, whilst the rear of the house allows relaxed family living – a fabulous large kitchen with wood burning stove and French doors to the walled garden, a TV room and a games room.

The bedrooms are individually themed with stunning décor, luxurious bathrooms, sitting areas, TVs and hairdryers. Cots and ‘put-up’ beds can be added as required. One bedroom has two king size beds providing excellent family accommodation.

The adjoining cottage, accessed through the games room, has a lovely sitting room with a dining area, a well-equipped second kitchen, and two double bedrooms with en suites which can be arranged as two twin bedded rooms if preferred.

The extensive gardens provide excellent views of the Cheviots with plenty of space for activities, games, etc. The walled garden has two patios, fully furnished with loungers, tables and chairs, and a stone-walled barbecue area for 20+.

Well-behaved dogs are welcome in the ground floor rooms with stone floors. There are heated kennels in the courtyard.

The housekeeper lives in the house next door. A full catering service is available – from full silver service to simple family meals. Dinner parties, barbecues and picnics can all be delivered with or without staff.

Greenhill offers a unique location, easily accessible from north, south, east and west by road, rail or air, and offers a wonderful opportunity to explore the Scottish Borders with its myriad of historic castles and museums, 21 golf courses, beautiful scenery, first-class fishing and racing at Kelso.

What an amazing house. We had a group of 22, using the house, cottage, and the bothy cottage. All of the rooms were spectacular, with nobody getting a raw deal. The setting is wonderful, with gorgeous walks into the hills from the doorstep. Great local catering options exist that can serve the house (Orde Food Co. were absolutely excellent), and with a little ingenuity we were well able to get 22 round the dining table. Greenhill Lodge is the perfect venue for a weekend get-together for a large group. Facilities were superb, with Janice the extremely friendly and helpful housekeeper on hand to help with anything we needed. Interior decor is amazing- it felt like a private boutique hotel for 22. We'd heartily recommend it, as it was absolutely perfect for our weekend. It would be difficult to think of anything about the house that could have been better.

We had a lovely New Year for 2014, Greenhill Lodge is in the middle of all the scenery & very lovely walks, the house Decor is very glamorous and expensive and everything you need is available for a perfect stay.

August 2012 week at Greenhill with a party of adults and children ranging from 4-13. Fabulous house with the highest quality rooms we've come across over 8 years of big house holidays. Great walled garden, BBQ area and surrounding countryside for walks and cycling. Very helpful housekeeper. The African big game hunting photos may not be to everyone's taste! We survived those and the midges!!

My family and I have just spent a marvellous week at Greenhill. We have stayed here before a few years ago and my youngest daughter and her fiance got married here last week. What a lovely setting for a wedding ,although the weather was not brilliant ,we didn't let it spoil the day. Anna and Jimmy were married inside the house but we managed to have photographs outside and show off the lovely grounds. The owners had arranged for the gardener to come and make sure everyhting was in order the previous Monday so everything looked beautiful. The house is everything you could wish for, Rooms large enough for everyone to be together but also enough rooms if you need to escape and have peace and quiet. A truly memorable place which will always hold such happy memories. I hope to return with all my family in the not too distant future. My grandchildren 2 two year olds, 3 year old, 4 year old and 5 year old had a wonderful time playing in the gasrden and enjoying the open space and surrounding countryside. Thankyou

Just returned from a short break at Greenhill. Probably the best and most fabulous place we have ever stayed. Never have I seen a place where each room is of equal standard to all the others. The local scenery is stunning and we all felt very welcome and comfortable. We have stayed in many such places like Greenhills but we all agreed, this one is by far the most superior. Thank you for letting us share your home.

Just returned yesterday from fabulous stay (14 April). Second visit - yet again felt so comfortable and at home in this beautiful place that surrounds you with calm. So well equipped and kept to the highest of standards. The area is outstanding also. Thank you again.

We stayed at Greenhill Lodge Christmas 05, it was a very memorable time. The house was decorated when we arrived and looked very festive. The house and surroundings are very beautiful. It is quite a walk to the nearest village so a car would be adviseable although the walk is lovely. We attended the local carol service on Christmas eve, which everybody enjoyed and the local people were very friendly and welcoming. The pool table was a hit with my 13 year old son and the videos and games kept my other two children amused. The walks around the grounds were enjoyed by all, we had a fantastic family christmas and feel privileged to have spent time at this very special place.

Stayed here in July 2005 and can't describe how fabulous the whole place is. Every room is different but equally beautiful - this is the first time we have stayed in a house where all bedrooms are of an equivalent standard. It is hard to believe that the owners would be so generous as to share this with others -please thank them for us.
