We expected to go to the middle of nowhere and have a peaceful holiday but they are building a new house adjoined to this one and workmen came every day at 8 am to start work on the house. Was expecting nice views from the windows but fences and building equipment all over the place at the back and vans parked right outside the bedroom window so had to keep blinds shut constantly so not much privacy. My dogs are very barky if they see people and folk walking by the windows (workmen) and random people coming to the door looking for the owner didn’t help wanting a peaceful time away from home. They also kept leaving the gate open and I have two dogs and there are sheep about and I was worried they were going to get the sheep that were wandering around the road. The house it’s self was ok. There is a few faults that need fixing eg. The bath plug doesn’t open had to get the guy to come fix it and he used a knife to open it which we had to do to empty the water, the extractor fan in the en suit doesn’t work and drips and gets the floor all wet, the microwave crackles when you try to use it, the sinks in the bathrooms are wobbly. There isn’t a usable freezer in the house I ordered shopping to be delivered when we got there and there was only space for one bag of ice for drinks. Don’t buy anything that is freezable when ordering your shopping. The house was pretty clean apart from the bath which needed a good scrubbing of the jets as they were embedded with grime and a few run through of water to clean the pipes was pretty filthy, black chunky bits eww. The air fryer was dirty so didn’t use that everything else was spot on. Kitchen has all equipment you would need to make meals. Bed was super comfy. Garden is huge good for the dogs. It’s nicely decorated shame about all the problems.

The property

This charming cottage is situated in a tranquil area on the outskirts of Newtonmore, within the Cairngorms National Park's natural beauty. Situated in about an acre of mature woodland, Creag Dhubh is the ideal getaway for families looking to get away from everyday life and explore what this part of Scotland has to offer. Kick off your walking boots and head to the lounge, which is furnished with a sofa, chair, and TV with Freeview, to catch up on your favourite shows after a day of fell walking. When you're not at a nearby restaurant, you can whip up a tasty meal in the kitchen, which is equipped with all the necessities for a self-catered stay. The utility room has a convenient washing machine for your laundry. Before deciding between two immaculately arranged bedrooms to get some rest, wash the day away in the bathroom with a shower. The second bedroom has two single zip/link beds that can be combined to form a super-king-size bed upon request, while the master bedroom has a king-size bed and an en-suite bathroom. This Newtonmore cottage has a sizable garden outside, and red squirrels, garden birds, and red deer frequent it throughout the year. The village of Newtonmore is especially well-liked by anglers and grouse hunters, but there is also a wide variety of bars and restaurants if you'd prefer to spend the night out rather than cooking. Explore a variety of hiking, biking, and pony-trekking trails to get a deeper understanding of your environment. The Wild Cat Trail and Wild Cat Experience are local family-friendly activities, and the Clan MacPherson Museum is a great place to learn about your Scottish ancestry! History aficionados, on the other hand, will adore the Highland Folk Museum, which displays how Scottish Highland forefathers lived, how they constructed their dwellings, and how they tilled the soil! At Creag Dhubh, there is much to look forward to throughout your stay.
