    “Mattress not uncomfortable but hard for our taste.”

    A topper would have been good. Pool table a great extra though a bit uneven in places. We have an electric car so charging facility would have been appreciated - and we would have paid to charge. Very impressed with the level of cleanliness, attention to detail, quality of the decor, garden, support from Lorna, pet friendliness. Hard to pick any faults really in relation to the positives. We had a lovely holiday and would strongly consider returning!

Hill House is a spacious and extremely comfortable 4 bedroomed house which has been furnished and equipped with good quality fittings and high end linens etc. This ensures a perfect home from home in a quality holiday house. Whilst ideal for families, with its games room and outdoor activities, it is also a tranquil and relaxing home for those adults looking for that added special comfort. All bedrooms, including the single bedroom, are well appointed, attractive and meticulously maintained. The house sits in a 1/2 acre garden which has been fenced, walled and gated to prevent escapees of the 2 or 4 footed variety! For those unfamiliar with this Northern county, Caithness is a truly under-visited corner of Scotland which, once found, astonishes all in it's atmospheric beauty and tranquil, other-worldy nature. So unspoilt that much archaeology is still so prominently visible and the names so evocative of the Vikings that those with an interest in this aspect of our history will love being immersed in so many reminders. Star gazers will, if booking in winter, have the opportunity of perhaps seeing the Northern Lights which can be spectacular so far north. But even if the 'Mirry Dancers' are dancing elsewhere, the blackness of the night, without light pollution, allows for a stunning display of stars, the Milky Way and the occasional display of meteor showers. It will be possible, from Hill House, to visit the most North Westerly point of the Scottish mainland, Cape Wrath, and the most North Easterly - John O'Groats - in the same day! Whatever you decide to do - travel around this fabulous county or stay put at Hill House, we are sure you will return with wonderful memories of Caithness, its people and fascinating landscape. Steeped in clan history, the Caithness village of Lybster sits in a sweeping bay with views across the North Sea and down to the Moray Coast. Lybster offers a wide range of amenities including hotels, shops and a golf course. In Lybster you will be drawn in by the blend of ancient history and stunning scenery with a story of sustained development and an ability to move with the times. An exhibition about the area's history and natural heritage explains how the community survived throughout the ages. This is an area peppered with archaeological sites; the Grey Cairns of Campster sit five miles inland on the Watten road, where visitors can travel back in time by crawling inside the 5,000 year old cairn or by exploring the Achavanich Standing Stones which stand sentry by Stempster Hill. Birdwatchers can observe breeding colonies of seabirds, on the cliffs around Lybster or view them seasonally through the camera link recording them.
