“Unfortunately we found the cottage basic and dated and not matching the over flattering description on Sykes website.”
For example the website says "With stunning views, Seashell Cottage is a traditional stone-built Scottish cottage and a wonderful base..." However the cottage is on the High Street, opposite, the townhall and a bus stop, not stunning in the least. Also as the High St is the main route into the village, there's quite a bit of traffic noise. The living room and kitchen were functional, again not in keeping with the website's elaborate descriptions. The beds were very hard and uncomfortable. ...

Also as the High St is the main route into the village, there's quite a bit of traffic noise. The living room and kitchen were functional, again not in keeping with the website's elaborate descriptions. The beds were very hard and uncomfortable. We ended up sleeping in separate rooms and in end came home 2 days early. The house next door was been renovated (Nov 22) and as such there was building noise most mornings. On the plus side, Cromarty itself is a lovely little village with a lot to offer, local pubs, restaurants and shops are great. Any locals we met were really friendly and engaging, it seems like a lovely place to live. Day trips to Dornoch, Culloden and Inverness were easy and local villages of Rosemarkie, Avoch and Fortrose are worth exploring too.
