We all thought it was one of the most well-equipped properties that we'd stayed in. The photos don't do it justice! A great location too in the lovely Aberdeenshire countryside - we never had to travel too far.

Plenty bathrooms and plenty space to chill out. Loved the wood burners which made the house cosy and relaxing. Felt remote but was in fact in easy distance of shops etc if needed. Added bonus of meeting the owner who explained some of the history of the house.

  • "We had a really lovely stay at Newseat."

The house was spacious, yet cosy at the same time with log burners in the dining room and living room. Our family enjoyed gathering in the dining space on the sofas around the fire while dinner was being made, while the kids loved the window seats. The kitchen was really well equipped with everything you could need for cooking. The garden was great, perfect for the kids to run around and play. Newseat was located in a great spot for visiting the surrounding area. I would definitely recommend a visit to Aberlour for lunch at The Gather’n, food was great and the staff were really lovely.

  • "A very relaxing holiday, two weeks this time, and met the owner for a good chat."

Plenty of accommodation with excellent views all round, even the skylight for a view of the hill behind, to add to the ambience. All appliances worked well but we always take our own coffee machine to cottage/farmhouse holidays! There was a coffee machine in the house though.

  • "Newseat is a fabulous house."

Really well equipped and in a great location for exploring this part of Aberdeenshire. We had two teenage boys with us and found plenty to keep them occupied within an hour of the house. Go ape in Banchory(45mins) Lochter outdoor Centre( in Oldmeldrum30mins) & TheNordic Ski Centre in Huntly(15mins) are all great places to spend an afternoon. The bike trails at Glenlivet are within an hour and if Whisky is your thing Speyside is easily accessible! Huntly has a must visit butchers for all foodies in Forbes Raeburn, fabulous selection of local produce- the Sirloin Steaks were amazing! and really friendly staff. The local shop in Rhynie run by Sandy & his wife is well stocked and has beautiful fresh bakery everyday so if you don’t feel like going anywhere you can always get something here and if you just want to chill in front of the fire the house is perfect for relaxing with two lovely areas so the kids can have there own space. Ann the owner couldn’t have been more helpful and for anyone considering this area I couldn’t recommend highly enough! A fabulous stay look forward to returning in the future the Maclennan’s.

  • "We booked Newseat for a long awaited summer holiday of three family groups."

The place was immaculate, kitchen very well equipped which was great for us as we mostly cooked and ate in. The large dining table created a lovely central hub and we thought the dining space worked really well. There were plenty of bathrooms, comfortable beds, cosy furnishings: generally a great large country house that didn’t ever feel like a squeeze or that anyone got a short straw with the bedrooms. The location is quite simply stunning. The view from this house is astonishing, we were lucky enough to have wonderful weather and just sitting in the front garden surveying the terrain was a special treat. Our host was very accommodating and allowed one of our party in early to drop off luggage. Plenty to see and do in the surrounding area: we loved the falcon centre at Huntly, Leith Castle gardens, a trip to Aberdeen and the world class art gallery, trips to Findlatter and Sandend beach and fabulous drives to Ballater, the Cairngorms and Findhorn. Good for Pictish relics and circles as well as Tap’o North fort which you can climb and sits majestically just behind the house. We would love to return.

  • "We stayed in Newseat in June 2021 and we had a wonderful holiday."

The house was far larger than it looked in the photos. There was one twin bedroom downstairs with an ensuite and all the other bedrooms were upstairs. This house was the best equipped house we have stayed in, with everything you could imagine in the kitchen. The 2 fires were wonderful and the garden was fully enclosed which was perfect for our two 4 year olds. I was lucky enough to meet the owner Anne who was lovely and had lots of great suggestions. We walked to the top of Tap O Noth (even the 4 year olds) which rewarded us with amazing views. We shall definitely return to Newseat with another 2 families as there is so much space for everyone.

  • "I would like to say that my family and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this wonderful property."

The house is beautiful and contained everything we could possibly have needed, it was clean, comfortable, and extremely cosy with the two wonderful log burners and a generous supply of logs to keep us going! The location is fabulous with the most beautiful scenery from every window, what more could we have wanted! We met the owner Anne on the morning of our departure and she seemed to be a very nice lady. I will certainly be looking to book again in the future with LHH as browsing your website I have already spotted a few possible places to stay in the future. Many thanks for your service Fabulous house in a beautiful location! We spent a wonderful week with family celebrating Johns 60th Birthday, the house was everything we could have wished for, warm and cosy with wonderful log burners and comfy beds. A great time was had by all, we hope to return one day!

HUNTLY

Elgin 28 miles; Banff 21 miles.

The pretty town of Huntly is located in Speyside, and is surrounded by rolling Scottish hills and open fields. The town has an interesting history, and the Standing Stones of Strathbogie lie in the centre of Huntly just beside the Brander Museum which is well worth a visit. Of course, the whole area forms part of the famous Whisky Trail and there are seven working distilleries for those interested in sampling a true taste of Scotland! Apart from whisky there are excellent hotels and pubs to appreciate, and Huntly also boasts an 18 hole golf course. A visit to the outdoor centre allows for the opportunity to participate in some roller skiing, or perhaps just enjoying the simple pleasures of cycling and walking in the wonderful Clashindarroch Forest is more your taste. Some 10 miles away is the town of Keith, gateway to the 'Malt Whisky Trail' and home to Scotland's oldest working malt whisky distillery. Keith is a pretty and very typical Scottish town with an excellent selection of shops and dining out opportunities.
