“We felt 'at home' the minute we walked in the door of Taigh na Beadan (September 2021).”

The house was warm, comfortable, clean and well equipped. It was so relaxing sitting in the sunroom enjoying the view. The location is remote so be prepared to clock up the miles if you want to explore the whole of Lewis and Harris as we did. Otherwise you'll find plenty of beautiful walks, beaches and places to visit close to the house. It was sad to leave this beautiful quiet holiday house but hopefully we'll return sometime. The property

Taigh na Beadan (big-man's house) overlooks Loch Roag and the hills beyond and is only a short drive from Uig Sands, Riof Beach and several other quiet sandy beaches around this peninsula. Comfortably accommodating 4 adults, but with a small twin room suitable for children, it is ideal for the family. Two bathrooms make easy sharing and the lounge is spacious, light and comfortable. On the sunny bright days throw open the French doors to get the best of the loch view or on those atmospheric stormy days, close the curtains and light the real fire for true cosiness. The sunroom/dining room is probably where most people will spend their time because the view is so dramatic and the door opens to the garden from here. We guarantee breakfast with a view! The garden is safely gated for children and you are welcome to bring your family dogs. There is decking to the front to enjoy the views and if you stay in the darker months, possibly the Northern Lights. The Valtos Peninsula is community owned and much cared for by the locals who have developed many interesting visitor points and a super community store, museum and cafe. Hill walkers can head for the Uig Hills for a days hiking and beachcombers will love the white shell beaches. Bernera is only a short drive and we recommend you don't miss a trip to Bosta Beach and the Iron Age museum. The famous Callanish Stones are not far and are another 'not to be missed' attraction. All in all, this is the perfect family holiday home to enjoy exploring all that Lewis and Harris have to offer. The islands can be reached by flights from Edinburgh, Glasgow or Inverness; or by ferry from Uig on Skye to Tarbert, or Ullapool to Stornoway.

Note: This property has a Good Housekeeping bond of £150.
