“Probably the best cottage we have ever stayed in - Thank you.”

Sykes need do need to revisit their directions to the property however which are a little misleading. On joining the B888 you travel 4 miles then turn left and travel a further 2 miles. You also need to advise people that there is no nameplate outside so taking a picture of it may be sensible

Dear George, I am sorry I did not reply to your feedback until now, I was not well for a while there but I have recovered thank god. Thank you kindly for your review we are so very pleased that Sea Spray was the best we will endeavour to keep it that way and hopefully better as time passes by . It is great that you pointed out to directions problem. I will contact Sykes about this. I am trying to source a name plate to put at the bottom of the road. The person who used to make the photo name plates on the Islands is no longer available. I will be contacting LHH ? Sykes to ask them if they know a company on the mainland that they can recommend. There are projects in place for the house and its surroundings, 1/ I hope to have a fence built around the house later this year. You may have seen the initial prep work that the fencer has done. We have a problem with sheep straying into the village and try as we might we cant manage to stop them at this time so I have had to begin the fencing project to stop them getting around the house. 2/ I am hoping that a concrete or tarmac road will be built up to the house this winter as the surface in place was a temporary measure when we were building the house. My very kind regards John Mackinnon Property Owner

The property

Sea Spray Cottage, newly completed for Spring 2022, is stylish, exceptionally comfortable and spacious. Located at the southern tip of South Uist it is ideally placed for exploring Eriskay, Barra and South Uist. The causeway links Eriskay to South Uist and is less than 10 minutes drive to the local Community shop. Here you can source everything from everyday items, local produce and crafts. The ferry from Eriskay sails regularly to Barra allowing a comfortable day trip. Returning to South Uist there are many beaches to explore. The nearest is directly opposite the cottage consisting of a mixture of sand and cobbles stones along the shoreline. Head east passing the causeway on your left to the cockle beach at South Glendale. The western side of South Uist is, almost, one long continuous expanse of white sand backed by dunes which are host to the machair flowers and grasses. This property is cleverly designed so that both the lounge and dining area benefits from the sea views with the spacious and well equipped kitchen within easy reach. The interior has been carefully styled throughout with a mix of traditional and contemporary furniture. An oak floor with under floor heating ensures that the house is easily heated and that a comfortable temperature is maintained throughout the year. Two comfortable bedrooms with plenty sea air ensures a comfortable night sleep. The large picture window frames the view across the Sound of Barra. Relax a while on the sofa and watch; the sunlight as it twinkles on the ripples, the white crested waves and the changing colour hues of the sea. Immediately in front of this cottage you can swim or paddle in the sea, stroll along the shore collecting shells or quietly wait and watch for the otter to make an appearance. Seals are often spotted bobbing about in the waves watching for a few minutes before diving into the clear water. Artists and photographers are attracted to the light, the natural beauty and the wildlife that this beautiful island offers. Less than 30 minutes drive is Askernish Golf Course laid out by Tom Morris amongst the sand dunes on the western side. The islands can be reached by flights from Edinburgh, Glasgow or Inverness; or by ferry from Uig on Skye to Lochmaddy, or Oban to Lochboisdale. EPC Rating: Band B
