The location is remote and completely worth it with stunning scenery at every turn. A place to completely switch off and relax.

  • "The Barn at Reef is what heaven feels like!"

The place was immaculate when I arrived and was so cosy, inviting and warm. I brought my parents along to enjoy the place with me, and they were in awe of the little peninsula that Reef was situated. The beaches are simply stunning, the sunrises with our dog, Jura will be cherished for years. If someone wished to escape from civilisation for a week or more, this would be the perfect place to do it with a fantastic local community just 15mins away.

  • "Well equipped and comfortable cottage in a beautiful location."

It's rare to find so much (kitchen tools, books, boardgames, etc) in a holiday let. It was very warm the week we were there in August and Jill was immediately responsive to our request for fans - it was much appreciated when they arrived the next day. A lovely stay, thanks very much!

  • "A wonderful cottage near the sea."

Beautifully presented, very well-equipped and cosy - we loved the steaming hot shower after Easter sea swims! Perfect for our family of four, the Barn was just as lovely as the photos but felt even more light and spacious in person. Within a short walk of stunning Riof beach, we appreciated the proximity to sights but loved returning to this peaceful spot. Excellent communication from the owner - book without hesitation!

  • "We have just spent a fabulous week touring round Lewis and Harris and retreated back to the Barn each day to unwind and recharge."

The situation is perfect for exploring both parts of the island , with local beaches at Reef and Ardroil if you want to drive less. The amenities were great , there was nothing we wanted for and Jill was a really helpful and kind host. She provided lots of information to help us make the most of our break off season. Often the standard of dog friendly accommodation is not as good but the beautiful Hebridean natural and modern interior and exterior of the Barn didn’t disappoint. We have made lovely memories to hold onto until we return again.

The owner was brilliant at accommodating our requests, nothing was too much trouble. We arrived to a warm cottage with some lovely welcome treats. We wanted a peaceful relaxing Christmas and New year and that's exactly what we got. Beautiful scenery and local walks over the hills and the beach was stunning even in the winter. Thankyou for a magical Christmas which became more magical when the snow arrived.

  • "We had an absolutely wonderful stay at The Barn."

It was a beautiful holiday destination - both in location and comfort, space and attention to detail. A thoughtfully decorated home with plenty of space made this a very comfortable stay - regardless of what the Lewis weather decided to do! We appreciated the welcome goodies very much too. The Barn is close to many good walks and fantastic beaches - the Uig Community Shop is very close so easy to stock up without travelling far, Uig Sands restaurant also close for a treat, the Uig museum a good little visit and the local distillery if you’re into whiskey! Thank you - we fell in love with this little bit of Lewis and hope to be back.

First trip to the Outer Hebrides with our 3 yr old and 5 months old. Couldn't have asked for better weather although we packed for winter!! The Barn was ideal for us. Eilidh loved her cabin bed. Kitchen was well stocked and great movies for when the kids went down. Ate out the back every night. Morning coffee out the front. Lovely walk to Riof Beach. We will be back!

So much so that we booked to come back next year during our stay here! The Barn surpassed our expectations, a real home from home - it catered to our every need and certainly ranks amongst the best holiday accommodation that we have enjoyed; tasteful and luxurious furnishings and decor yet remaining true to itself as an authentic, welcoming home. Style AND substance - what more can you want?

  • "Feel somewhat honoured to be the first guests to write in this book and some of the first few lucky folk to experience the charms of The Barn."

This truly is the most gorgeous of holiday homes - so well thought out and beautifully decorated and so many lovely touches. We have serious house envy. It has been a treat having a real fire to cosy up to to and the cabin bed, complete with blankets, makes a great reading nook with lots of good books to choose from.
