Some lovely walks right on your door step along with a cafe just across the road so your able to go for something to eat with no need to take the car. Anthony’s art gallery is just a minute up the road with pictures of all around the Outer Hebrides that capture the beauty of the Islands. The cottage had everything you need for a comfortable stay and the owners are available if you do need anything.

The property
Road End Cottage is aptly named, located at the northern tip on the Isle of Lewis.
The views are captivating, in all directions, particularly over the Port of Ness harbour and beyond to the sandy beach and the expansive sea scape beyond.
It changes from calm turquoise waters to dramatic waves topped with gleaming white breakers and everything in between.
For those looking for a place to relax and unwind, this provides everything you need.
Spot the nesting seabirds on the nearby cliffs including fulmar, petrel, kittiwake, shag and black guillemot.
Also, look out for the amazing spectacle of Gannets diving from heights of 30m achieving tremendous speeds of up to 60mph, as they plunge into the sea, to catch fish. The descriptive term for this is a plunging of gannets.
Port of Ness is well known for artistic talent. Take a short walk from the cottage to the Harbour View Studio Gallery, with original paintings, fine art prints and greeting cards by Anthony J Barber.
Worthy of a visit, but be warned, it is hard to leave without a purchasing a reminder of your trip or a present for someone close.
Take a stroll to the sandy beach beyond the cottage, perfect for swimming, kite flying, beach combing or a relaxing picnic.
The slip way at the harbour provides easy access for kayakers and sailors planning a day on the water exploring.
Walk the section of the Hebridean Way from Ness to the Butt of Lewis, it’s claim to fame, according to the Guinness Book of Records, is that it is the windiest spot in the UK.
Its only a short drive to Eoropie beach where the wild Atlantic swell here will appeal to keen surfers while the glorious sunsets will tempt any photographers to tarry a while and capture the perfect moment.
The islands can be reached by flights from Edinburgh, Glasgow or Inverness; or by ferry from Uig on Skye to Tarbert, or Ullapool to Stornoway. EPC Rating: Band F
