  • "Fabulous cottage, fantastic location, wonderful hosts."

Good base to explore Eriskay, Berneray, Benbecula as well as the local area. Beaches are stunning, and stargazing here is amazing; a week isn't long enough - will definitely return :-)

  • "An excellent base to explore N and S Uist, Eriskay & Barra."

There is no where better to see birds. From the kitchen/living room you are guaranteed to see Sea Eagles, Hen Harriers Short Eared Owls and golden eagles. A mile or so down the road there’s some of the best Machair in Scotland and the magnificent walk up Beinn Mhor is a short drive away, as is the excellent museum. The big windows enable you to look across the Machair to the sea, a great place to watch the changing light and weather and spectacular sunrises/sunsets. The place is very tastefully designed - lovely paintings, crockery, blinds etc. and one of the best equipped cottages we’ve ever been to with high spec equipment. There are several beautiful photographic books which helpfully inform you about the history and culture of S Uist. We also loved the three handsome chickens wandering around. The next door hosts are also delightful. We can’t recommend this place enough.

  • "The cottage is well laid-out and had all the equipment we required, and the owner was friendly and helpful."

However, there was no information booklet containing information such as waste disposal, recycling, restaurants, shopping and supermarkets, doctors and health needs, etc. Perhaps you could consider making this a requirement for all LHH properties. The situation of the cottage was not as attractive as other LHH properties we have use, being closely next door to the owner’s home, and with a chicken run very close by. Unfortunately, we had to leave a day early due to Calmac cancellations. We had told the owner a few days earlier but were unable to find her on our morning of departure to thank her. Please pass on our thanks.
