The property

Taigh Eachainn and Taigh Tharmoid Ruaidh are two Hebridean cottages which make up 28 Bhaltos which can be let either individually or together. Taigh Eachainn forms a welcoming and comfortable two bedroomed cottage close to Bhaltos beach and the sea loch. With far reaching views across the loch, which fringes one of the many fantastic beaches of soft white sand in this area, comfortable beds and a wood burning stove this is a cosy retreat from which to explore this beautiful island. Just a short walk down from the cottage is the old harbour and jetty and the beach is close enough to carry your kayak down to. With a string of beautiful sandy beaches all around the Uig peninsula you will be spoiled for choice but if you prefer to be more adventurous there are plenty of opportunities for walking, kayaking, and wild swimming too. This lovely area is also rich in history with standing stones at Callanish and the Iron Age Dun Carloway Broch both approximately half an hours drive. Nearby the cottage you will find a well stocked community shop and a community centre that also houses a museum and cafe. With Stornoway just 45 minutes drive north and Harris approximately an hour and a half south you will be able to explore the whole island from this comfortable base. The cottage is newly renovated and is comfortably appointed for a relaxing stay. If you need slightly larger accommodation there is a second adjoining cottage, Taigh Tharmoid Ruaidh, with a double bedroom and bedroom with two bunk beds sleeping four people. The two cottages can be let either separately or together. There is a sound proofed connecting door and corridor linking the two cottages. The islands can be reached by flights from Edinburgh, Glasgow or Inverness; or by ferry from Uig on Skye to Tarbert, or Ullapool to Stornoway. EPC Rating: Band D
