Travel down a private track, close to the sea and shrouded in trees, to find yourself at the foot of this magnificent property situated in Claddach Valley near Lochmaddy on the Isle of North Uist in the Outer Hebrides. With huge windows and a grey wood exterior, Seasmhach agus Dileas oozes opulence and emerges from the treeline with impressive architecture, creating the perfect getaway for families or groups of friends, and the impressive exterior is just the beginning. You will enter through a games room, noting the relaxing setting of the wooden walls, warm lighting and sitting area and be tempted by the pool table, however, if you journey a little further, the breath-taking cathedral built with huge windows letting in seas of natural light welcomes you to the property. This stunning open-plan living area offers you all of the home comforts you could need for your stay, but with added grandeur, take for example the stylish wooden benches and table, ready to present the perfect meal, a woodburning stove and leather sofas for relaxation, and a spacious and contemporary styled kitchen, splitting from the wooden flooring of the rest of the property to offer instead black tiles and a wonderful area for social cooking. On the ground-floor you will also find a large family bathroom with a separate walk-in shower, offering a variety of ways to freshen up, as well as a beautiful king-size bedroom, outfitted with wonderful wooden furniture giving a natural feel to the space. Head up next to the mezzanine level, where you will be delighted to find an office equipped with a desk, a king-size sofa bed and spectacular views out of the large windows. From here, you will find another king-size room, this time with a handy en-suite and again sporting a welcoming and clean look, fitted with its own table and sitting area for two allowing a more intimate space to relax, beautiful wooden furniture for storage and large windows allowing a view to the bay, as well as two family rooms, both with one double and one single bed and ample storage; there is also a separate shower room for the family rooms. Head outside and take advantage of the large astroturf area where you can enjoy a game of football or golf, or gather around the firepit and as the designated chef starts up the barbecue. With long roads and beautiful landscape, the local area is perfect for those looking for a cycling holiday, and you can hire bikes, or bring your own and explore the abundance of main road and single-track roads which weave through the rugged countryside of the island. Being so close to the sea and surrounded by beautiful sandy beaches, there is the opportunity to embark on a kayaking trip, or you can go fishing in the local harbours, and if you love seafood, then you will be delighted to find that there are several great seafood outlets and restaurants. Lochmaddy is the closest village to the property and offers a convenience store, pub and several cafes where you can enjoy a pint in the sunshine after a long day of hiking. If you wish to explore one of the neighbouring islands, you will find that the ferry terminals across the island offer day trips to some of the nearby islands, including Harris, Eriskay and Barra, where you can explore the wildlife, beautiful sandy beaches and local history and heritage. The islands can be reached by flights from Edinburgh, Glasgow or Inverness; or by ferry from Uig on Skye to Lochmaddy, or Oban to Lochboisdale. The village of Lochmaddy is the terminus for the daily ferry linking it to Uig on the Isle of Skye and it is also the main centre of population for the island of North Uist. Lochmaddy has good facilities and services including a selection of hotels serving fresh local produce in their dining rooms. A visit to the award-winning museum and arts centre located in the centre of Lochmaddy is a must, and there is also a tourist office full of information about local events and places to visit. The road south of Lochmaddy will lead you to the village of Carinish some 10 miles away and if you continue on this road you can cross the causeway to the island of Benbecula. The town of Balivanich in Benbecula offers shops, post office, a bank, restaurant, a petrol station and an airport, from which car hire can be arranged. The causeway from Benbecula then leads onward to the island of South Uist.
