The property

Clachan Lodge is both stylish and a very comfortable, purpose built holiday home. Located within an easy stroll to the endless white shell sand beaches and the turquoise sea of Clachan Sands and Traigh Lingeigh. The colourful array of wild flowers in bloom on the Machair are at their most colourful from Mid June to August. The floor to ceiling windows from the spacious lounge and dining room provide a wonderful vantage point to enjoy the uninterrupted views. Behind the house climb the nearest hill Beinn Mhor, within walking distance, to get stunning panoramic views across the sound of Harris and the fragmented landscape, containing the myriad of lochs that makes up much of the interior landscape and the rugged coastline of the west coast of North Uist. Within a short drive take a trip to Lochmaddy to visit the Museum and Arts Centre where friendly and informative staff will help with questions on the history. Take a tour around the museum to get an understanding of the history and traditions of North Uist and Island cultures. If you have time explore the Arts centre and gift shop as they have a good selection of local books and maps. The Uist Outdoor Centre offers a wide range of activities including kayaking, diving and whale watching. It is possible to drive as far south as Eriskay using the causeways that now link these islands - North Uist, Grimsay, Benbecula, South Uist and Eriskay. Also, to the north a causeway links North Uist to Berneray. Pack a picnic and stop at one of the many beaches. Always returning at the end of the day to marvel at the sunsets unfolding in the skies from the huge windows. It is also the perfect vantage point to catch a display of the northern lights when the daylight hours reduce from autumn, winter and early spring.
