  • Mr Fraser

“Lovely comfortable house in a beautiful and spectacular location.”

Fantastic views over the Minch to enjoy from the hot tub. The house was spotlessly clean on arrival and has all the basics you require to enjoy your stay. The owner Hazel lives close by and was very friendly and helpful. We would definitely return.

The property

Braemore Cottage has been built and furnished to a high standard and offers luxurious comfort in spectacular surroundings. The hot tub is positioned to offer privacy but also a magnificent view out across the sea, where eagles frequently soar. The cottage is situated just 10 miles east of Tarbert, where the ferry arrives from the Isle of Skye. Here is the Harris Gin Distillery visitor centre and cafe and also the long-established Harris Tweed Centre. Head south of here for the fabulous expanse of sandy beaches all down the coast or head north for a day and explore the wild and mountainous Harris Hills. Or perhaps take a trip up to Lewis and visit the ancient Callanish Stones. The Isle of Scalpay is just a short distance and reached by bridge. This area has a fascinating fishing history and the owner of Braemore Cottage can also, if available, provide fresh shellfish in season. An area rich in wildlife, you can expect to see eagles, seals and otters close to Braemore Cottage and over on Scalpay, in spring and summer, you can enjoy walking through the flower rich machair - best achieved on the circular walk past the famous Eilean Glas lighthouse.Photographers and artists will find an abundance of subjects and the cyclists and runners can experience both undulating and challenging hills and tracks. Kayaking in the Kyles offer the opportunity to be accompanied by seals and otters but, whatever floats your boat, returning to the hot tub on the deck must surely be the icing on the cake! The islands can be reached by flights from Edinburgh, Glasgow or Inverness; or by ferry from Uig on Skye to Tarbert, or Ullapool to Stornoway. EPC Rating: Band B
