    “Absolutely outstanding.”

The one of many highlights for me was the brightness with the large windows, fantastic. Unlike many properties we've stayed in this was absolutely jam packed with every mod con that was needed. You could easily not set foot outside the cottage if you didn't have to for the duration! The location was spot on with escapism the no 1 reason for me booking with yourselves and it didn't disappoint one bit. Maybe for future he could be rented out to sit over a glass and tell stories, there will be many

The property

South Uist, especially this far south-west corner, is arguably the most unspoilt, underdeveloped and consequently most beautiful and tranquil part of the Outer Hebridean archipelago. As the majority of island visitors head for the Isles of Harris and Lewis (and quite understandably as they are all different but equally fascinating islands in their own right) the Uists are less explored, often being used as a drive through between Barra and Harris. But for those prepared to stop a while, untold treasures await. Driving up the one main road from South Uist to North Uist, the car traveller would be unaware of the 20 miles of fine, sand beaches and machair (flower strewn dunes) paralleling the road less than a mile to the west. Beach View Cottage overlooks the beach beginning this wonderful expanse of wild coastline. From here you can experience or see sunsets and sunrises, beach walks, phenomenal wildlife and outstanding flora and fauna. Where else can you look out of your window and see otters running over the beach and deer running wild. The cottage overlooks the Island of Barra and the views are breathtaking. What better way to stay and explore a very special and stunningly beautiful part of the Outer Hebrides. South Uist is the second largest of the Outer Hebridean islands measuring approximately 22 miles North to South and 8 miles east to West. The house is spacious, modern yet unique and comfortable and your well behaved dog is welcome too. The islands can be reached by flights from Edinburgh, Glasgow or Inverness; or by ferry from Uig on Skye to Lochmaddy, or Oban to Lochboisdale. EPC Rating: Band B

About the location

DALIBURGH, ISLE OF SOUTH UIST

Lochboisdale 3 miles; Ludag, 6.2 miles; Benbecula 24.8 miles.

Daliburgh is a town on South Uist in the Outer Hebrides and is known for being a crofting town. There is a memorial here to commemorate the life and works of Donald Allan MacDonald, a Gaelic poet who lived in Daliburgh in the mid 20th century. It is a great base from which to explore a fantastic selection of activities from fishing and walking to diving and birdwatching. The nearby Askernish Golf Course is always popular and was originally designed by ‘Old’ Tom Morris and is popular with golfers keen to test themselves on this challenging course. Dining options include fish and chips from the Burnside Chip Shop or for something a little more fancy dine in at the Borrodale Hotel. While you are in Daliburgh you can stock up on supplies at the supermarket and there is also a number of other shops including gifts shops. A short distance from Daliburgh is the fascinating Kildonan Museum and the birthplace of Flora MacDonald as well as a host of fabulous beaches just waiting to be discovered.

Note: Though electricity is included in the rent, electric for charging cars is not included in the rental. Note: Please bear in mind that this property is located on an island and therefore only accessible by plane or ferry.
