  • "We loved our stay at this lovely property."

It was super clean and comfortable and Sarah, the owner, was very welcoming. Its in a great area of Lewis which is a wonderful island. Very much recommend booking in for dinner at the B and B . We had scallops and steak and have never tasted better of either.

  • "Great week at the Atlantic Long house."

The house is very well equipped and comfortable. The bio-mass boiler kept the house warm at all times. Our dogs settled in quickly and felt at home here. The view from the windows is beautiful and sometimes dramatic. The house is close to the very well stocked and friendly community shop. Sarah and Andrew were very good hosts.

Gorgeous views. Everything was there what we needed. Loved the Biomass boiler (Billy Rae) we will miss feeding him. He kept us cosy when needed. Clean & modern property and will miss the stunning views especially the sunrise.

The cottage was lovely and had everything we required. The hosts were lovely and Sarah's fresh bread was delicious. We also have the best meal from the hosts in their B and B. We were able to watch gannets and seals in the bay from the property. Three stunning beaches all within 5 to 20 minutes away. Amazing food shop 5 minutes away. Judt ideal location.

  • "We had a wonderful stay at Atlantic Longhouse at the end of May 2014."

The house is lovely - well decorated, comfortable and nice and warm. The views out to sea are breathtaking. One thing to be aware of is that the house is situated at the edge of an abandoned 1950s RAF, parts of which was converted into a (now disused) hotel. But as I say the view from the house is out to sea, which is lovely. Sarah, Andrew and Elliott are super hosts. They gave us good tips of where to go and always made sure we had everything we needed without being intrusive in any way. We had lovely bread, meat and marmalade from the croft. And the excitement of a chicken pen at the back of the house. The location is very good - with a range of stunning beaches close by and a good local shop. The highlight of our holiday was renting sea kayak from Sarah & family and heading out to an uninhabited island in a calm bay (it felt safe for children who are decent swimmers) about 20 mins drive from the house.

  • "Just perfect!"

We stayed for a week in the Atlantic Longhouse and just loved it from the first minute! Sarah and Andrew were great hosts and made us feel comfortable in every way. They gave us such a warm welcome and very helpful tips, what to do in the surrounding (by the way: sarah's selfmade bread and jam were delicious) and we loved to eat the eggs from the chickens, ducks and goose which had their coop in front of the cottage. We liked the presence of those friendly and curious birds. The cottage itself was very well equipped and everything was spotless clean and very well looked after. We were blown away by this beautiful cottage - not just by the stunning views to the Atlantic from the large sitting room windows but the small details, which were very tastefully arranged. We were the first time on the Isle of Lewis, so when we did the booking, we had no idea, where to find the best location to stay. Now we know, that our decision to book the Atlantic Longhouse was perfect in every way - as well concerning the cottage as also concerning the surrounding. We made trips to all over the Isle of Lewis and Harris and found out, that the Aird Uig area (where the cottage is located) was the very best place to stay. The surrounding is wonderful - beautiful white beaches nearby, Golden Eagles and a little canyon, we often had to drive through to get to Aird Uig, where we spotted deer nearly every time we passed the valley. There is also a little supermarket and petrol station just about 3 miles away, which turned out as very practical. Thanks for a perfect stay Sarah, Elliot & Andrew - we will surely come back!

  • "Fantastic cliff top location overlooking the Atlantic Ocean."

With nothing between you and the ever-changing rugged coastal landscape, you won't regret making this lovely place your base in the Outer Hebrides! The house itself is extremely comfortable, spacious and warming to come home to each day and Sarah is the perfect host in every way. My only regret is not being able to stay for a month! Next time.

  • "The Isle of Lewis is an assault on the senses in the best possible way and the Atlantic Longhouse the best possible place to stay while you're there."

Andrew and Sarah have created a beautiful house on top of a cliff with a view that would be impossible to tire of. These two are amazing. Is there nothing they can't do? Fresh home-made bread and jam, enormous portions of delicious food brought to the door and, on a memorable final night, a meal cooked by Andrew in our kitchen, complete with tablecloth and candles. If you're lucky 'the girls' will provide freshly-laid eggs for breakfast. The house is extremely well-equipped and very comfortable, and although off the beaten track (lovely!) not too far to go for any number of astonishing places. Andrew and Sarah are perfect hosts- kind, efficient, informative. Atlantic Longhouse is absolute gem.

  • "We had a fantastic fortnight in the cottage."

The cottage is just perfect for a family of four like us or even five, very well equiped and so cosy and comfortable. The views from the cottage are amazing and we could spend hours watching the waves crashing on the cliffs, the clouds moving away and others approaching, the light changing almost every minute, looking for golden eagles. Just a short walk away, is an amazing wee loch with stunning views on other cliffs, the sea and landscape with nobody to disturb you fishing a brown trout (simply delicious) except various kinds of strange sea birds. The hospitality of Sarah and Andrew is unbelievable, they were always there to help and ensure that we had all we needed and even more for our stay to be perfect. We had goose, turkey, duck or hen's eggs for breakfast (geese eggs are fabulous) and the piece of home-reared lamb of our choice for dinner. Sarah and Andrew also have good tips to get fresh local seafood (mussels, amazing langoustines and scallops) and surprise you. In other words, the cottage is the perfect place to relax for nature and food lovers.

  • "Atlantic Longhouse is a great design with stunning views."

The owners Sarah and Andrew are the perfect hosts and cannot do enough for you. We found out on our last night that Andrew's talents are wasted as he cooked us a Fish & Chip supper which was second to none. (I am an expert on Fish & Chips) He should have a Fish Restaurant in a big city, he would make a fortune! We also have a self catering cottage in Scotland and can only hope we run ours as professionally as Sarah and Andrew run theirs. Have a great future, you both deserve it !!!

  • "We stayed at Atlantic Long House last summer and on the evening of leaving we stayed with Sarah and Andrew as our ferry didn't leave until the next day."

As the next prospective occupiers rolled up the road to take up their weeks ownership, we lay in bed feeling slightly green eyed that it wasn't us starting out all over again. We had the happiest holiday and were so cosy and comfortable in this beautiful cottage. The hosts couldn't do enough for us and really helped to make our week away a memorable one. Everything we needed was provided for and the fresh bread and biscuits were lovely. If you like it wild, Uig is the perfect get away, with huge swathes of untouched silver sand and eagles aplenty! We really felt perched on the edge of the country with nothing but sea between us and the USA and the sea views were spectacular. We're currently reading The Chess Piece Magician to our kids which is set in Uig and we're all loving the memories it's refreshing of a lovely summer holiday by the sea.

  • "We have just spent Christmas at the Atlantic Longhouse, and it was Perfect."

We cannot think of any words which will really convey just how much we enjoyed it all. The peace and quiet, the comfortable accommodation, which is beautifully warm and has stunning views, could not be better. Sarah and Andrew are lovely hosts. All our requests for assistance were met with smiles and a genuine willingness to help. We chose to have a meal at their B&B, SEAcroft, one evening. It was a truly amazing gastronomic experience, not to be missed, and they even gave us leftovers to take back. We were very impressed. Andrew also cooked us a superb Christmas meal up at the Longhouse. We thought it would just arrive in containers for us to warm up, but no, he arrived with all ingredients and cooked for us, plying us with Champagne while we waited....and he discreetly left us to eat, and then came back and served a delicious Pud, then coffee and mints, and somehow managed to clear everything up and left us more than enough for Boxing Day. How good was that?! The weather was pretty good for December. We had a cracking storm one night, and though we didn't see the Northern lights, the display of lightening was dramatic. We had wonderful walks on local beaches and headlands, and then headed back to our cosy longhouse at dusk. If anyone needs a bit of luxury and a quiet break, this is the place. I hope we will be able to go back one day.

There is plenty of wildlife on land, sea and air to watch and we often saw seals, deer and eagles; Inka was particularly interested in the chickens! The area around Aird Uig is stunning with pristine beaches, beautiful mountains and dramatic coastlines. The perfect place to completely relax. Thanks very much Sarah and Andrew for making us very welcome.

We will have very fond memories of a lovely family holiday on this wild and wonderful island - and hope to return.

  • "Only one word is needed to sum up the Longhouse, Sarah and Andrew (and little Elliot), and the Isle of Lewis, 'Amazing'."

We spent two weeks in the Longhouse (November 2014) and arrived after two days of travelling to see one of many rainbows over the bay. We received a very warm and friendly welcome not just for us but for our dog Fizz. We spent many an hour sitting by the windows in the lounge, with a tipple, reading or knitting or just simply gazing out watching the scene change with the weather. The Longhouse is one of the best holiday cottages we have stayed in. Not only was it spotlessly clean but it was extremely well equipped in both the kitchen and with its selection of books and DVD library (I newly discovered the film Whisky Galore and love it!!). As we were on holiday we took advantage of Andrew?s cooking and ordered take away cottage pie and lasagne (both utterly gorgeous) on several occasions and couldn't get enough of Andrew's freshly baked bread and Sarah's Plum jam. As an added bonus we received two complimentary three course meals at their B&B. The food was stunning and either came from their croft or was locally sourced. As others have said nothing was too much trouble for Sarah and Andrew, from tips on the best beaches for Fizz to run around on to catering for food allergies. We loved our chats with Sarah about life on Lewis and its history. If you not sure about coming to the Isle of Lewis out of season just do it! The roads are well maintained but nice and quiet and the Longhouse is a brilliant and cosy place to relax in.

  • "My wife and I were celebrating our 30th wedding anniversary and looking for somewhere peaceful where we could have a relaxing time."

We were also looking for somewhere where we could pursue our hobbies and pastime of photography, Lapidary and walking. After much searching and deliberation we decided on the Isle of Lewis and in particular the Atlantic Longhouse and this turned out to be a great choice. The quality of the Longhouse, furnishings and equipment was all very good and the place was extremely warm and cosy. Heating was supplied by the most fantastic wood pellet burner although we didn't really need to use it much as the house remained cosy with the sun entering the front windows. There is also a good DVD library and numerous films and documentaries saved on the Humax. The front of the house overlooks the cliffs and we saw many great things from the window including a small herd of wild deer on the hillside, Arctic skuas chasing the gulls to steal their fish, buzzards and many other species of birds. You never tire of looking at the view from the windows. The landscape at the back of the house was fabulous with several impressive peaks in the distance beyond the village. There is also the most amazing sandy beach a few minutes drive from the house. There is also a handy petrol station and shop en-route to the beach. There a several great places to walk around the village and we especially enjoyed the short walk to the old MOD camp at the back of the village towards the shore. The village is trying to acquire the site and we wish them every success. We were fortunate to have the opportunity to discuss the area with two extremely friendly local men and we learned much from their informative talks. The local people we met were all extremely friendly. The drive to Stornoway takes around 90 minutes as does the drive to Tarbert. Stornoway is nice for a day-out but we enjoyed the seclusion of Aird Uig and the peaceful aura of the village. The house owners Sarah and Andrew were extremely accommodating and made us feel very welcome. They were also extremely generous and invited us to SEAcroft (their B&B) to celebrate our anniversary. The meal that was prepared was without any exaggeration the best that we have ever had anywhere, I am being genuinely honest with this comment and the quality would rival any top restaurant anywhere. We had a great week at Aird Uig and I'm sure we will return. We will always be indebted to Sarah and Andrew for their generosity and hospitality in making our 30th wedding anniversary one to remember. If you get the opportunity then I suggest you book the Longhouse at the earliest opportunity or you will be disappointed. You should also try and find a vacant 'slot' at SEAcroft and enjoy the best meal you are ever likely to have. Thank you Sarah and Andrew.

  • "We had a four-day break at The Atlantic Longhouse for our honeymoon starting 4th January 2016."

Prior to our arrival Sarah had already been in touch with lots of information and asking whether we needed anything for the duration of our stay. She'd given us lots of useful tips about the ferry, where to get shopping, and had arranged for us to have two fillet steaks from their farm for our arrival. The house is on the West coast of Lewis is the remote area of Uig. The scenery is spectacular - more like Harris than much of Lewis, with mountains and cliffs tumbling into rough seas, white beaches, and wild weather. We were greeted by Sarah on our arrival with a freshly made loaf of bread and our steaks and settled into the house. The Longhouse is very well equipped, warm, and well insulated. A perfect place to watch the weather roll in if braving the elements isn't possible or desirable, and also a great place to base yourself for outdoor activities if the weather permits. We enjoyed the beach at the bottom of the hill, and saw lots of sea birds though the windows. Aird Uig itself is quite interesting as it used to be an old RAF base. Sarah and Andrew could not have been more welcoming and hospitable. They cooked us a delicious meal of seafood (locally caught lobster, langoustines, scallops, and home-smoked salmon), lent us binoculars and books, and were always available if we needed anything. The food was really excellent and would be worth a detour to Aird Uig even if you weren't staying at the Longhouse. Uig is a great place to stay in the Hebrides as it's a good base to explore the West coast of Lewis and not too far from the Stornoway ferry, but with access to Harris if you want to explore further. The local food is really special and everyone we met was friendly and helpful. We would highly recommend a stay at the Longhouse to enjoy Sarah and Andrew's hospitality and generosity, as well as the spectacular scenery of Lewis and Harris. We hope to go back again soon. • "We very much enjoyed our stay, it was everything that we had hoped for and more, the special (complementary) meal was a real treat!"

The Longhouse is a beautiful, peaceful location, and a great place to cosy up on a wild winter day - of which we had at least one. And that part of Lewis surely has one of the most stunning landscapes in the islands. Please pass our thanks to the owners.

  • "We had a wonderful stay in the Longhouse in the first week of October 2015."

It is a spacious, well equipped and very comfortable place to stay and perfect for coming back to after a hard day's sightseeing or for staying in and watching stormy weather. There is even a gate which leads down to the adjoining beach. The Longhouse is ideally situated in a remote area with the spectacular views of cliffs and sea that we were looking for. The scenery is always fascinating as the weather and light keeps changing. We were even lucky enough to see the Northern Lights starting over Stornoway harbour and came back to the Longhouse to watch the full show. Sarah and Andrew were fantastic hosts, very friendly and helpful. Nothing was too much trouble. They even took in our Tesco shopping delivery before we arrived. We ate at the owners' SEAcroft B&B one evening and were extremely impressed with the delicious food. The Atlantic Longhouse was a perfect choice for our autumn week away.

  • "Stayed for a week in the Atlantic Longhouse as part of our honeymoon, and thoroughly recommend it."

Very modern inside, and extremely cosy. Fantastic views - the dramatic cliff views, coupled with large patio door / windows mean that even if the weather is bad, you can watch the waves pounding off the cliffs. There is effectively a small, near-private beach by the cabin (though it's a stony beach, probably too big at riptide to safely swim because of the nearby submerged rocks, and anyone with mobility issues may struggle to get down to it). It's a lovely place to wander and take photos though. We had initially wanted somewhere with an open fireplace, and had swithered a little as the longhouse only had a 'biomass living flame boiler'. In the end, this wasn't an issue at all - the fire was every bit as cozy, and if truth be told was probably a lot easier than mucking about with a real wood / coal fire. Maybe didn't have exactly the same look as a real fire, but the living flame element still made it aesthetically-pleasing. The local community area is lovely as well (and the lunches at the Uig community centre were excellent - try the black pudding, it was amazing). It's pretty remote, being right out on the west coast looking onto the Atlantic. I've marked this as having an excellent location though, as if you're going to the Hebrides on holiday, a remote location is probably what you're looking for anyway. The history and stories of the old RAF base were also much more interesting than I would have thought before booking. The meals at the SEAcroft were of a very high standard, highly recommended. Catered well for vegetarian diet. All in, a great place to stay and we wouldn't think of staying anywhere else if we were lucky enough to be back in Lewis.

  • "Everything about the Atlantic Longhouse is stunning from the standard of accommodation to the scenery."

Sarah was amazing and Andrew's food at Seacroft was gorgeous. My first taste of scallops caught the same day and I'm totally converted. My husband hasn't stopped talking about the sticky toffee pudding and he says the tomato and basil soup was the best he's ever had. House was warm and cosy and of a very high standard, loved the views and enjoyed the solitude. The weather was wet and windy to say the least but we got out and about and did everything we wanted to. the beaches in the area are a must one with a visit to the distillery. Loved every minute of our holiday. Thankyou Sarah and Andrew 5 stars doesn't even hit the mark.

  • "On arrival we were struck speechless by the cosiness of Atlantic Longhouse and the stunning outlook."

We came away to recharge our batteries and destress and we certainly did both, Lewis has worked its magic once again. The accommodation is of a very high standard, the view is outstanding and we were treated to sea eagles flying around on a few nights, stunning. We enjoyed a meal in Sarah and Andrew's B&B Seacroft and it was fabulous: perfect fresh scallops, crab, halibut and monkfish. Sarah and Andrew are very welcoming, the perfect hosts. We were fortunate enough to have a week of perfect sunny weather but the view would be enjoyed in any weather. Lots to see and do around Uig area and lots of beautiful beaches. The Seatreck tour is highly recommended. We will be back to Atlantic Longhouse.

  • "We stayed in the Atlantic Longhouse owned by SEAcroft this last week."

The host was lovely and welcomed us to the accommodation with a homemade loaf of bread. The longhouse itself was immaculately clean and we enjoyed reading about its minimal carbon footprint (its given us some thinking points!) and thought the biomass boiler was great. The lovely big windows and patio gave us great views over the bay; the children loved exploring the caves on the beach for treasure and the former RAF base was the perfect spot for our son to learn to ride his bike. The longhouse had a great info booklet with plenty of information about Aird Uig itself and also good recommendations for trips out. Thank you so much for having us. We would highly recommend this family and dog friendly accommodation and would definitely come back.
