  • "It was a pleasure to arrive at Shore Lodge on a very wet and windy February night."

I was met at the door just to make sure I was comfortable and knew where everything was. A delightful and imaginative welcome pack meant I could relax immediately. The Hot Tub area is very private and perfect for watching the night skies. Lots and lots of stars and a very clear moon... no northern lights this time. Loved my time here; comfortable, spacious with a very well thought out interior throughout.

The cleanliness & comfort were second to none. It is an amazing home with lots of glass to show off the lovely views. The owner is so helpful and friendly and is very knowledgeable about places you can visit on the Island. The hot tub was fun. The bed and bedding were luxurious. Everything you need for a special holiday. Thank you so much from the both of us.

  • "We had a wonderful week in this beautifully designed and furnished 5* holiday home."

It has everything you could wish for. Lovely view out of the front which is all glass. Let’s in so much daylight. The hot tub in the back is great during the evening after a day out exploring the fascinating local area. Rosemary and Mark the owners are a delight and do everything to make your stay enjoyable. Scrumptious grazing box welcomes you on your arrival and they are happy to help with any local information re places to visit. We couldn’t believe it when our last day arrived. Still so much left to do. We will definately return to Shore Lodge.

Comfortable bed and seating, kitchen with smart appliances and all the peace and quiet one could wish for! Hostess really so friendly and warm and being brought up in Lewis had bags of local knowledge about every corner of the island - just a gem!

  • "Shore Lodge is beautiful, restful, calming."

The view is wonderful, even on a dull day, and those floor to ceilings windows really make the place. Even though it is a 1-bedroom place, it is so spacious and airy that you’d expect there to be at least 2 bedrooms. The decor is so clean and laidback, which just adds to the overall feeling of calm. I really appreciated Rosemarie’s welcome grazing box, which kept me going for several days (also the bread and milk, etc). I would definitely aim to return here, and hopefully for longer than my fantastic week.

House is amazing with everything you need and more. Easy walk into Stornaway and other coastal paths and good base to explore the island further. Ferry 10 minute drive away. Certainly a warm welcome from the owners who feel like old friends and are so helpful with anything you need to make this a perfect holiday. We would return here in a heartbeat. Highly recommend.

  • "Shore Lodge was perfect for my short trip to the Isle of Lewis."

Very close to Stornoway and the ferry. The bed is incredibly comfortable and the linen so luxurious I had to ask what make it was. I'm sure it was why I slept so well. The Hot Tub tucked away in a very private area at the back is such a wonderful treat. Lashings of hot water in the shower which was so relaxing after a long day. The kitchen is so well equipped. I want to rebook for a longer stay.

About the location

STORNOWAY

Arnol 14.5 miles; Callanish Stones 16 miles.

Stornoway is the only town in the Outer Hebrides and is a bustling and growing area with a busy working harbour, a great selection of shops selling local gifts including Harris Tweed, leisure facilities and wonderful award-winning restaurants selling locally sourced food of the highest quality. Lewis is a place where the lilting Gaelic language is spoken everywhere! Visitors to the town will find plenty to keep them occupied, the magnificent Lews Castle Grounds and the iconic Lews Castle, many good museums and art galleries and also a smart golf course and clubhouse. The large, quiet sandy beaches are close by and provide visitors with wonderful views and the town itself forms a great base for a holiday exploring the unique islands that form the Outer Hebrides. On the north west side of Lewis you can visit the village of Arnol with its Blackhouse Museum, an unmissable visit for anyone wanting to understand the way of life that was once widespread in Lewis. Carloway Broch is nearby and is another fascinating landmark and incredibly well preserved. The Callanish Stones from the Neolithic are also well worth visiting.
