We really enjoyed our week in the house , felt like a home from home and everything was thought of by the owner . We arrived really late due to storms and delayed crossing but it was lovely to arrive gone midnight with the heating and lights put on for us and thank you for the welcome gift , lovely . I would highly recommend this house and can’t wait to return which we will . We were really sad leaving and that says a lot .

A great house, with the most amazing views! The house itself is home from home, well equipped and comfortable with lots of thoughtful touches. A nice easy walk from the house to St Clements Church treated us to sightings of a Golden Eagle, buzzards, an otter and a seal swimming in the bay. We had a truly relaxing and idyllic week and would thoroughly recommend this property.

I’m so glad you enjoyed your week! Thanks for choosing St Clements View. Property Owner

  • "We really enjoyed our stay at St Clements view, the cottage is lovely with beautiful views ( and a great bathroom)."

It has to be one of the most peaceful places anywhere. There’s a nice walk over to St Clements church which we enjoyed with our border Collie, also the Garden is perfect if you are visiting with a dog. It’s in a good location to visit the amazing beaches on Harris. We enjoyed it so much we are looking to book to return in the future.

  • "We had a lovely relaxing holiday at St Clement’s View."

From the point of arrival you are wowed by the spectacular views. The house is comfortably furnished with everything you might need to make your nest away from home. Karen, the host made sure we felt welcome and was on hand for any queries we may have. All in all a 10/10 holiday home.

  • "We really enjoyed our third stay at St."

Clement's View. The cottage is so well situated with views not only of St. Clement's but of the Uist's too. There are lovely walks from the door in a very quiet area of South Harris. A few minor improvements such as better quality duvets/covers and crockery would enhance its luxury status. Over all this remains a very special cottage and certainly one that we would recommend. Many thanks Karen.

  • "We love this cottage but we think it could be doing with some maintenance."

The toilet overflow runs constantly & has done since last year when we stayed. The drain in the shower also clogs up & needs cleaned out. Some of the windows don’t close properly. The decking could be doing with some painting. Could also be doing with some more kitchen utensils, baking trays, some nice wine & beer glasses. Won’t put us off going back next year.

Thanks for your feedback Mr Walsh though it is a bit painful to read. I am so sorry you were disappointed and hopefully I will have everything ship shape for you next year! It's been a busy few months and your feedback has reminded me I need to address a few things right away. I hope you enjoyed your stay otherwise and I look forward to welcoming you next year. • "A wonderful location, peaceful and quiet with great views."

The house is well appointed with all the expected features, although because of the location terrestrial TV is not available (so using "catch-up" TV via the internet). Like other visitors have commented the hot plate at times seems to have a mind of its own (touch sensors can be a little temperamental) not a major issue, just tests patience at times. The property is warm with a combination of under-floor and radiator heating, so there are a few small electronic pads to come to terms with to make adjustments to get things as you want (ie: temperature and timings etc). Overall very enjoyable and comfortable.

  • "Stunning location ."

The house was lovely although the slanted roof in the main bedroom was a pain literally as I kept banking my head on it .It was also frustrating that someone had turned all of the heaters and under floor heating off and I had to spend ages reprogramming the timers .The dogs loved the garden which was well fenced and allowed them to wander .The community shop at Leverburgh made a hugh difference getting food and fuel would have been much more difficult without it

  • "This was a fantastic house at the end of a single track road, so very little traffic."

It is a dog friendly premises, however, there are so many sheep, we didn’t feel comfortable about letting the dogs off the lead when out and about, but we did find the fencing adequate so the dogs didn’t get out. There were some things missing in the house that should be quite simple to rectify. There could be side tables in the lounge, as the distance to the glass table in the middle is quite a distance with a hot drink - a lot of stretching. A soup ladle would have been useful, and a pastry brush, as we bought the local beef pie with pastry. We felt that with the dogs and, the wet weather that we unfortunately had, a mat at the back doors in the kitchen would have been useful to help with the cleaning of the kitchen floor. All in all this a great converted Croft house - we would consider going back - the views (in good weather) are terrific.

Well equipped and great to have sharp knives. Lacks small tables in lounge to put drinks on. Greatest problem was poor cleaning, dog hairs everywhere. Owner offered compensation but did not offer to redo cleaning which we would have preferred.

  • "Everything was great and as expected and advertised so these comment are genuinely feedback in case it helps."

The only near necessity missing was a breadknife. A pair of small cooking tongs would have been a nice to have. It would really suit a woodburner but that maybe just because we love them and do winter trips quite often. Although not a large property, a second WC would really have been nice. The big bathroom is fab but overkill. Cupboard with a toilet would have been good. Some foresight on my part allowed us to have bbq by putting our portable one inside the rusty one at the property. It would be nice a have a not so rusty one (though I understand it prob hard to keep them good in that location) No complaints as I say just info in case it helps Craig

  • "We could not have chosen a better location or property."

We really enjoyed the beautiful island, beaches and local food. We left feeling we wanted to definitely come back and explore the island more. The house was excellent and just moved the sofa so it did not point at the TV, but the 180 degree ever changing views!

  • "Just perfect!"

What a house! The views on all sides are awesome and you can see the views on all sides from the house itself. Superbly refurbished and elegantly decorated but with a homely feel that doesn't leave you afraid to use it. The garden was wonderful for the dogs (although a local dog was jumping the fence and fouling the garden) and it was fun to watch them chase around the house at top speed. The doors to the decking were a big hit with them and us as they were very content to sit and watch the sheep. St Clements View is also in an excellent position for touring the beaches of Harris and finding all the hidden gems of tiny bays and harbours where seals, otters and, if you're lucky, whales can be seen. Seeing the golden eagle over the house was fantastic and we had fun watching the Leverburgh - Berneray ferry twisting and turning its way through the small islands and rocks. It was such a fabulous holiday we stayed an extra two weeks!

  • "Thanks for confirming the return of our good housekeeping deposit for St Clement's View."

We had a fabulous holiday due in no small way to the quality of the accommodation - comfortable, spacious, well equipped and in a stunning location. Add to that the breath-taking beaches and wild mountainous scenery and it is little wonder that for the first time in years we did not want to go home! Please convey to the owner our gratitude for being allowed to experience this exceptional home - we intend to return to Harris in the not too distant future (after my pending Knee replacement op) in order to climb some of the hills and we hope that St Clement' View will be available when we do.

  • "I wanted to say what a lovely time we had in Harris."

Your cottage was a dream. My wife particularly enjoyed the mood lighting in the bathroom. The decoration was so very stylish and the views were unforgettable. We found several very pleasant walks around the cottage - St. Clements church (a choice of routes), the beach, and the road to the boathouse through a valley of sheep. We had one quite expensive day out with a trip to St. Kilda with Sea Harris who provided an excellent trip from Leverburgh. We also took the ferry over on foot to Berneray which was a pleasant day's walk. Yet one more selling point of the cottage is being so close to the port for these trips.

  • "We stayed in this wonderful cottage for a week in April 2014."

We had a fantastic time, the cottage was fantastic and Harris was amazing. We loved how close it was to all the beaches and being able to bring our dog with us was an added bonus as a lot of cottages on Harris will not allow dogs. Loved the nearby temple cafe and croft 36. We even got food delivered from croft 36 and it was possible the best fish curry and seafood lasagne I have ever tasted. Can't wait to return.

  • "Location, Location, Location I'm so glad I chose St Clement's View for our Easter family break."

The location is stunning with near 360 degree uninterrupted views. The house feels secluded in its position at the end of the road but not isolated. We settled in very quickly, the house is cosy and welcoming, clean and modern. It was laid out perfectly for our family and Baxter the dog loved lying right at the front door so he could see all the comings and goings. The kitchen was a joy to cook in and was well equipped. The bathroom is spacious and modern. The house in general is very well equipped with nice little touches such as DVDs, books and binoculars. Top tip......order a large grocery shop from Tesco online to be delivered just after your arrival. The local Co-op (7 minute drive) is really well stocked but I found it useful to plan the week's dinners and know I had everything we needed.

Leverburgh 2.8 miles.

A traditional croft house turned holiday cottage; St Clements View can be found nestled into the countryside of the Isle of Harris in the Outer Hebrides.

With wildlife and beaches nearby, this four-bed pet-friendly cottage is perfect for families looking for a taste of the more rugged islands of Scotland.

Upon parking outside of the property, you are met with a quirky cottage where contemporary design and traditional architecture melt together seamlessly, where a large extension with huge full-length windows has been added to the cottage without being intrusive, with beautiful brown wooden windows and skylights.

Once you have marvelled at the house’s exterior, you will be welcomed into an airy sitting room that could possibly be the property's grandest feature, with huge windows opening onto the stunning wild bay just beyond the garden, stylish sofas, and furniture all in keeping with the cottage feel, so why not take a moment to relax and enjoy this space before embarking on your adventures? Exiting the sitting room, you will find the dining room, continuing the theme of wooden floors, furniture, and contemporary cottage décor, making the perfect space for you to indulge in a wonderful family breakfast.

The designated chef will be enticed into the amply equipped kitchen, first noting the white tiled floor contrasting perfectly with the black furniture, hard wood work-surface and an abundance of amenities allowing you to rustle up the perfect family meal, providing two bar stools to recline and have a coffee whilst breakfast is underway, as well as French windows with access to the decking area outside.

Also on the ground-floor, a spacious tiled bathroom awaits, with a large jacuzzi bath to recline and relax in after a long day exploring the beach, or for a quicker freshen up, a large shower cubicle with rainforest shower head.

Climb the stairs to find the perfect places to snuggle down for the night; a master bedroom with a double bed, delicate décor in keeping with the cottage theme and a view to the outside, along with a twin room also presenting fresh styling, with artwork of the local scenery.

If you wish to enjoy a meal outside, then there is a wonderful decking area accessible through both the kitchen and the French windows in the sitting room, why not grab a book and enjoy a peaceful moment amongst the Hebridean air?

Visible from the house is the historic St Clement’s church, a popular spot for weddings, and there is a beach within walking distance of the house that can only be reached on foot.

If you need a hot meal, but you don’t wish to cook, then within a short drive are a few local restaurants, or stock up on essentials before heading out on a hike at the Harris community shop, and you will have the opportunity to explore local craft and artwork at Grannie Annie's local craft shop, Borrisdale Tweed, and Finsbay gallery.

There are many beaches to visit, where you can walk, wild-swim and partake in your favourite watersports, as well as hikes and walks around archaeological sites, including MacLeod´s Stone and the beautiful surrounding walk.

Remote, beautiful, and teeming with adventures, a stay at St Clement’s view is bound to be a family holiday you will remember.

The islands can be reached by flights from Edinburgh, Glasgow or Inverness; or by ferry from Uig on Skye to Tarbert, or Ullapool to Stornoway.
