  • "The cottage was warm and comfortable, with plenty of logs for the wood burner."

The kitchen is extremely well equipped. The view of the sea out every window is lovely. Despite being on the road, in January, it was very quiet. The owners were very kind and attentive. The night sky was amazing when we went a small way up the road to avoid the street lights. I would recommend this cottage to future guests, you won't be disappointed.

Johan is very attentive and the little arrival and departure gifts are a very nice touch. First class all round!

The house is very comfortable, well equipped and beautifully decorated. Every need was catered for. The location of the house makes it a very good base for visiting Harris but also Lewis Island. We wish we had stayed longer!

Stunning location, pristine in it's cleanliness, charming and cosy. Johan and her husband went above and beyond to make us welcome including a very generous welcome package. I would recommend this cottage to anyone and everyone. Just wonderful.

  • "Outstanding holiday cottage as attested to by other reviewers."

Immaculately presented with well-appointed kitchen, sitting room, dining room and bathroom with excellent shower. The views are stunning from all of the main rooms! Excellent walks nearby. Plenty of extra storage room in the shed. The peace and tranquility is divine! The owners are very thoughtful and live only a couple of miles away so help easily available if required! An otter swam into the inlet immediately in front of the house! I can't wait to return!

And we got to see a minky whale and leaping dolphins on the fast rib boat of the Eilean Glas Lighthouse boat trip from Scalpay Harbour. Even the weather was great. Highly recommended. Paul from York

The cottage was in a great position with views over the sea and on clear days you could see for miles. It was spotlessly clean and had everything that you would need in a holiday cottage. Johan was very welcoming and friendly and the tray of local biscuits and cakes was appreciated.

  • "What a great cottage with lovely views."

We were impressed from the minute we walked in. The cottage was spotless and equipped to a really high standard. We especially liked the home made cakes & biscuits! Johan was very welcoming and friendly. We've already recommended The Old Post Office to several people and no doubt similar comments will be passed on in New Zealand now that the Kiwis have returned home.

  • "The Old Post Office was the Highlight of our 3 week visit to Scotland."

We only spent 1 week in Harris but the accommodations were highly rated by all 4 of us. The kitchen was a treat to work with, excellent dishes, pots and pans, cutlery all well laid out! Enjoying cooking with high grade pots, pans and sharp knives! The living room was very comfortable, the chairs in the pictures don’t do them justice. Beds were very comfortable and all three bedrooms windows are greeted by the rising sun with a view of the shore line and open sea. Dining room was spacious for serving meals or playing cards or games with a well stocked library. My favourite spot was the porch with a wee dram in hand and the sunshine. I give it 11 out of 10 , beyond my expectations for comfort and price! Bob Hagar

TARBERT

Lochgilphead 14 miles.

Built around an inlet on Loch Fyne, Tarbert has long been both a harbour and a key strategic point in the history of Scotland's rugged West Coast. Built around the natural harbour, fishing and sailing continue to play an important part in the life of the village. There are many annual events to interest all tastes including the sailing regatta on Loch Fyne, seafood and music festivals.
