The property

The Old Post Office at Drinishader is situated on what is known as The Golden Road on the east side of Harris. This lesser visited area is a true gem and well rewards heading for. The Golden Road winds its way down the coast revealing new vistas at each bend as the views across to Skye are lovely. Small lily strewn lochans and swathes of bright yellow flag irises encapsulate all that these untouched areas of the Western Isles offer. However, it's perfectly possible to enjoy the pleasure of the west coast beaches such as Luskentyre, Horgabost, Seilibost and Scarista and they are all between 20 minutes and half an hour drive. For the keen hill walker, the North Harris Hills are not far and you will rarely meet others as you climb to the top of Clisham but the view will stay with you forever. The islands can be reached by flights from Edinburgh, Glasgow or Inverness; or by ferry from Uig on Skye to Tarbert, or Ullapool to Stornoway.

Note: This property has a Good Housekeeping bond of £150.

About the location

TARBERT

Lochgilphead 14 miles.

Built around an inlet on Loch Fyne, Tarbert has long been both a harbour and a key strategic point in the history of Scotland's rugged West Coast. Tarbert once required three castles to protect it, and the ruins of one of these can still be visited today. Built around the natural harbour, fishing and sailing continue to play an important part in the life of the village. There are many annual events to interest all tastes including the sailing regatta on Loch Fyne, seafood and music festivals. The 87 mile Kintyre Way stretches from Tarbert to the south of the Kintyre Peninsula, and offers walking for all levels and with ferry connections to Islay and Arran, there is simply no better location to relax and explore this rugged and picturesque part of Scotland.

Note: Though electricity is included in the rent, electric for charging cars is not included in the rental. Note: Please bear in mind that this property is located on an island and therefore only accessible by plane or ferry.
