  • "Hot water not available on arrival, only one bedroom was heatable , dishwaher did not function ."

No 'Welcome pack' on arrival , something nearly all rentals offer these days. The suppled telephone number is not valid .

The dishwasher has a spur switch above the work surface that needs to be switched on. The dishwasher did work when I switched it on to clean all the dishes stacked in it. The house information pack states that the hot water is operated on an off peak satellite system and should you require immediate hot water there is a switch adjacent to the water heater switch to obtain hot water through the immerson water heater. All showers are electric and have instant hot water. The heater in the second bedroom was indeed not working when we arrived as someone had pushed all the controls into the control box. A welcome pack was never advertised due to the unreliability of supplies to the islands. The telephone number issue has been rectified at head office. Property Owner

  • "The two single beds were very lumpy and we couldn’t use the main shower because of sewage."

We arrived late on a wild night after a long journey to a cold dark house which wasn’t very welcoming, all heating had been turned off. Not the standard we were expecting for a LHH property and the price we paid. The contact number given to call didn’t work so we could only call LLH who did nothing and then when we got home we called again. This time they said they couldn’t help because we didn’t prove it while we were there. I’m still waiting on LHH answering why they aren’t responsible for the wrong telephone number being given in all our correspondence. If we’d been able to call a local person we could have proved it. Their staff member we spoke to while we were there never mentioned this either. They have now closed the case without answering our question and haven’t responded to our last request for an answer.

  • "We absolutely loved our stay at Eriskay Views."

Apart from the obvious attractions of the setting, location and scenery, the property was perfect for our stay. Comfortable, practical, clean and cosy it ticked all the boxes. We have stayed at several Sykes properties in the last couple of years and this was certainly the best yet. We booked it to celebrate our 40th Wedding Anniversary and we could not be happier with the whole package.

. Our daughter loved swimming in the sea and coming back to the cottage for a shower. The Cottage is very well equipped and beautifully presented and the views out over the sea are breath-taking. We met the owners who were delightful and very helpful with lots of useful local information.

About the location

ERISKAY, SOUTH UIST

Lochboisdale 12 miles

The village of Eriskay is found in the centre of the island of Eriskay which is located between South Uist and Barra. It is connected to South Uist by a causeway and is a delightful place to visit. It is known for being the site of ‘Whisky Galore!’ when in 1941 the SS Politician ran aground here carrying 28,000 cases of malt whisky. The wreck was looted by islanders who allegedly hid the whisky all over Eriskay and South Uist. With a population of around 200, it is a picturesque, hilly island. Prince’s Beach is well worth a visit while on Eriskay and is located on the west side of the island. It is thought to be where Bonnie Prince Charlie first set foot on Scottish soil and the Bonnie Prince Charlie trail is popular with visitors to the island. While you are in Eriskay you can stock up at the community shop and there is even a restaurant called Am Politican here where you can stop off and enjoy a delicious bite to eat.

Note: The bed in bedroom 2 is a twin zip-link as standard. If you require this to be a king-size, please contact us to advise. Note: Please bear in mind this property is on an island so is only accessible by ferry or plane
