Dun Buidhe is a beautifully situated holiday home in an outstanding location in South Uist, close to the coastline and with magnificent views of the island of Barra as well as Beinn Mhòr – the highest mountain in Uist. South Uist is known for its deserted white sandy beaches and abundant wildlife. Here you may be lucky enough to see White Tailed Eagles, Corncrakes and Red Shanks. Short Eared Owls are frequently spotted as they hunt during the day in the coastal wetland in front of the house. Make the most of the fresh, local seafood by dining in some of the nearby eateries or take a fresh catch home and utilise the well-equipped kitchen of Dun Buidhe. The dining table in the social area seats four, with three further chairs available making this cottage perfect for families, friends or couples to use whilst exploring what this fascinating island has to offer. A large, enclosed garden with outdoor seating is a fine place to take in the spectacular views on a summer's day and with just a short walk to the beach, why not bring your four-legged friend too? When the winter draws in, enjoy the dramatic skies from the warmth and comfort of this completely refurbished property where the air source heat pump will keep you warm and the board games and books provided will keep you entertained. Daliburgh is a town on South Uist in the Outer Hebrides and is known for being a crofting town. There is a memorial here to commemorate the life and works of Donald Allan MacDonald, a Gaelic poet who lived in Daliburgh in the mid 20th century. It is a great base from which to explore a fantastic selection of activities from fishing and walking to diving and birdwatching. The nearby Askernish Golf Course is always popular and was originally designed by ‘Old’ Tom Morris and is popular with golfers keen to test themselves on this challenging course. Dining options include fish and chips from the Burnside Chip Shop or for something a little more fancy dine in at the Borrodale Hotel. While you are in Daliburgh you can stock up on supplies at the supermarket and there is also a number of other shops including gifts shops. A short distance from Daliburgh is the fascinating Kildonan Museum and the birthplace of Flora MacDonald as well as a host of fabulous beaches just waiting to be discovered.
