  • "We’ve had another wonderful holiday at Clachan Sands Cottage."

The house is just perfect - very comfortable, fully equipped, spotlessly clean and beautifully located - just what you look for to get away from it all and have a relaxing holiday. The hosts,Donald and Caroline, are so friendly and ‘on hand’ if at all needed. Thank you for a great fortnight- we highly recommend!

  • "We loved the gorgeous views with beautiful sunsets."

The location was fantastic. It was great to have good quality garden furniture. Unfortunately the fence was in need of repair. Our dog escaped the first time he was outside but the owner repaired these gaps instantly. There was still a hole when we left but we covered it with the goal post that was in the garden. We did not use the hot tub and woukd like to have had it switched off during our stay as it was very noisy. Inside, the kitchen was well stocked. We loved the fridge/freezer with ice cube maker. The bar stools were not the best. I fell off the high one and could not find a way to adjust the height. The other went too low once sat on. What made this a less than luxurious cottage was mainly the bedroom and bathroom facilities. The downstairs bedroom had a very poor mattress. The wet room was somewhat spartan and rather austere with nowhere to put toiletries and other items on. The soap dispenser was empty. The other two bathrooms had no storage or shelves. The door to the downstairs bedroom could not open properly due to the position of the bed. I found the room cold at first as the duvet was more of a quilt than a duvet. There were no extra blankets in that or any of the bedrooms. This room felt like an afterthought and could have been made more comfortable and homely. Both bedrooms upstairs had televisions but there was not one in the downstairs bedroom. If the bathrooms were upgraded to provide for storage, the stay would have felt more comfortable. New towels were also needed. The pipes from the upstairs bathrooms made loud noises downstairs when the bathrooms were used. The wet room downstairs squeaked very loudly when used. This was advertised as luxury accommodation and it was expensive so more attention to detail would have been appreciated. Hot tubs and televisions are all very well but the points I have made could be addressed to upgrade this lovely cottage to meet the luxury category. Despite these issues, we had a lovely stay.

  • "This was my first visit."

Loved the house. Everything was perfect and as as listed. The "View" was Amazing. Never get old starting my day with that view. The house was clean, in working order, comfortable, and had everything needed for our working holiday. The Hot Tub was wonderful after a long work day. I wish I would have used it more. I would highly recommend anyone thinking about taking a holiday to consider a stay with you. Thank you for the use of the house and your hospitality. Cheers. Robert Navarro California, U.S.A.

  • "We all thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Clachan Sands and would definitely go back, in fact we didn't want to leave!"

!! It's a perfect spot for a relaxing holiday with beautiful beaches just a short walk from the house, we even had red deer crossing the road in front of the house in the evening, and our little grandson loved seeing the sheep next to the house every morning. Donald and Caroline along with their children Andrew and Rachel are the perfect hosts and made sure we had a very enjoyable stay at Clachan Sands

  • "We had a fantastic fortnight at Clachan Sands in the beautiful property, which we thoroughly relaxed into during our stay."

The cottage is beautifully furnished and well equipped and has the advantage of three bathroom/shower areas, which is a massive advantage if all three rooms are occupied. We made good use of the large hot tub, which was warming on cooler days and relaxing on warm days. The close proximity to Clachan Sands is a huge advantage and we enjoyed walking down most evenings to enjoy the spectacular sunsets and wildlife...lots of Lapwings and Oyster catchers. The location is ideal for visiting the neighbouring Islands too..only a 4 mile trip to the ferry to Harris from Berneray, which we took advantage of for a day trip. We absolutely loved the property and its location and we would love to return to it in the future. Thank you ❤️

  • "Absolutely lovely."

Clachan Sands is a really warm comfortable, well equipped house with beautiful views from every window (especially from the hot tub). From a well equipped and spacious kitchen to 3 big bedrooms, the house has has everything you could possibly need - whatever the weather ! There are amazing and very quiet beaches everywhere you go on the Islands. We had Golden Eagles hovering above the house, Red Deer walking down the road and the best sea food we've ever eaten.

  • "We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Clachan Sands which proved to be a very comfortable, well equipped home with outstanding views from the house and hot tub."

The downstairs bedroom complete with wet room was particularly wheelchair friendly and the ramp to the back door was a very pleasant surprise because this was not mentioned in the brochure. I called Caroline, the owner re accessing the property and asked if she could provide a cheap plastic stool for the wet room to accommodate my disabled daughter. I was willing to pay for this. However on arrival we discovered that Caroline had gone to some lengths to provide, at no extra cost, a medical shower chair for the wetroom. Caroline, Donald, Rachel and Andrew are lovely welcoming people and we would gladly return to this lovely home and location. Thank you for a great stay

  • "Many thanks for taking the time to give us your advice earlier this year which decided us on booking Kintail Cottage on Uist!"

We had such a happy holiday. No quirks or wall to wall Anta here, the house is just nice and simple and comfy with gorgeous open views across the machair to the sea. The USP is the amazing open air hot tub - so simple to use and wonderful for watching the sunset from. Not midgy like I thought it might be, just relaxing! The owners, Caroline and Donald, are lovely, kind, warm, hospitable and welcoming local people who really want you to enjoy your stay. We had beautiful barefoot walks on endless deserted white sand beaches, watched the Milky Way from outside the house and generally unwound. Didn't want to come home (but saw dolphins from the ferry as we approached Uist!) (I gather the MacDonalds are hoping to develop another house in the area that sleeps 4, I'm sure they'll make it lovely and I'll be watching out for it on LHH!) Looking forward to the new brochure too, always nice to start planning the next holiday! All the best to you and the team and thanks again, Sarah and Colin.

  • "We had a fantastic week on N."

Uist - we loved the whole environment and getting away from it all. The cottage suited our group really well with a very well-equipped, spacious kitchen, separate utility and 3 bathrooms! The furnishings were very tasteful and the beds were very comfortable. There was always hot (very hot!) water on tap and efficient central heating. The wood/peat burner and hot tub were also much appreciated. The views from the cottage of the islands beyond Clachan Sands were superb. The only thing missing was a shaver socket somewhere for recharging razors and toothbrushes, although we learned that Donald could have let us have an adaptor. Perhaps that needs to be mentioned in the description. A small chair in the ensuite bedroom upstairs would be handy. The scenery and beaches of the Islands are well documented. Places where we enjoyed excellent fare were Langass Lodge, Hamersay House and the Airport Deli on Benbecula - a surprise find! And, of course, the Hebridean Smokehouse! We sincerely hope we will be able to return one day. We shall certainly recommend your company to any friends thinking of heading north.
