  • Mr Telfer

“It's an amazing property and well laid out and is suitable for a decent sized family.”

It's in a great get away location and is handy for going to other islands as the ferry and sea trips are available in the next village along with a shop and petrol station

The property

Leave the main route down the west coast of Harris, just 10 minutes drive from Tarbert and the ferry terminal, and turn left heading down to Finsbay, just 8 miles. This is a road to take slowly to best absorb the stunning views as you turn each bend, or to admire the lily strewn lochans either side of the road. Watch out for deer as you travel and sea eagles can be spotted too. This side of Harris is magical and has inspired artists for generations. It may not have the huge sandy beaches of the west coast but it more than compensates with lochans and hills, picturesque bays, wildlife and flowers. Historically and archaeologically fascinating, geologically intriguing and scenically stunning, it is the perfect location for a truly authentic Harris experience - and the big beaches are less than a half hour drive which would find you at Northton and Scarista. Leverburgh is just 6 miles from where the ferry to the Uists sails. 'Sea Harris' run boats out to St Kilda which has to be a bucket list destination for many! Whilst there are places to eat out and a well stocked community shop, you will also find wee gems such as the Seafood Shack in a layby 3 miles from An Lochan - sells wonderful fresh seafood. However, those with a passion for nature and wildlife will be truly in their element with the freedom to roam this stunning landscape or to launch a kayak in one of the many bays and see the island from the sea. The house was newly completed in 2021 and offers extremely comfortable and well equipped accommodation with fabulous views and a hot tub. The large garden is securely fenced and gated for children and dogs. The islands can be reached by flights from Edinburgh, Glasgow or Inverness; or by ferry from Uig on Skye to Tarbert, or Ullapool to Stornoway.

Note: This property has a Good Housekeeping bond of £200.
