The property

Wi-fi update: 40 MB download speeds, sometimes higher, throughout the entire house. Several people can work at the same time on Zoom calls, downloading etc. Also enhanced EE mobile phone coverage. Carsaig House occupies a most magical and dramatic position on the southern coast of the Isle of Mull, and enjoys far-reaching views over the sea towards the islands of Colonsay, Jura and Islay. Built in 1850 in the Georgian style, the house is complemented by a most attractive castellated walled garden to the rear. To the front the land falls away down a sloping field to the beach below, an easy walk. It is hard to overstate the quality and charm of the interior design of this luxurious house. No expense has been spared on the refurbishment of each room in its own individual way, and the ambience is one of a relaxing and peaceful but warm and welcoming family home. From the moment you step over the threshold you are immediately aware that you have entered a very special place. Over your holiday, Carsaig will work its magic and bid you farewell rested, relaxed and wondering how quickly you can return! All bedrooms, from the main master bedroom to the smaller top floor bedrooms, are high quality, appealing in their own way, and all enjoy either sea or garden views - some have both! The 'sunken' bedroom is particularly atmospheric with its two low windows and sea views. Even the two attic bedrooms are well appointed, light and comfortable and benefit from views of the sea and the walled garden. Carsaig House has been the location for films including "I Know Where I'm Going", and the famous red telephone box used by Catherine Zeta Jones in 'Entrapment', with a dramatic waterfall by its side, is a short drive from the house. The house is ideally located for visiting the sacred Isle of Iona and the Ross of Mull, with its red granite hills and fascinating coastline. Just north of the house the road takes a dramatic route over the hills to where the sea eagles live. There is a bird hide dedicated to watching for these magnificent and rare birds of prey. This perfect house is a dream of a holiday home destined to become a favourite with our regular Large Holiday House customers and new ones alike. We recommend shopping in Oban before arrival as the shops in Tobermory and Salen are some distance from the house. The island can be reached by ferry from Oban to Craignure, Lochaline to Fishnish or Kilchoan to Tobermory.

Note: This property has a Good Housekeeping bond of £500.
