“The cottage is clean, comfortable and ideal for a family or group of friends.”

We had a lovely time as a family of four, did lots of mountain biking and walking and visited nearby tourist attractions. Many thanks for letters us stay.

The property

Branter Lodge is new to the self catering market in August 2020 and this spacious, luxury, family home is just perfect in all ways. Set in some of the most beautiful scenery in Scotland rich in wildlife, history, mountains and lochs, yet just 1 hour drive from Glasgow and a short drive to several lovely places to shop and eat ensures an easy and relaxing holiday. Whether you are an activity junkie wanting wild and beautiful spaces to run, cycle, hike or swim, or whether life has just been a wee bit too active recently and you are looking for the perfect chill out retreat, this house offers both. It will be hard to drag yourself away from the views and the comfort but there is so much to do and explore in this corner of Argyll, with such easy access to many of the area's main attractions, that you must head on out and discover it all for yourself. Love trees? Head on down to Benmore Botanical Gardens where you will see some of Scotland's tallest and most magnificent trees. Enjoy a bite to eat and browse the local crafts in the restaurant there or maybe pick up a plant or two. The Glenbranter Trails are fascinating and the jogger or cyclist can leave the house and travel for miles and miles in pure air through all the spectacular routes. On your journey you may see deer, red squirrel, pine martens and maybe even an eagle. Wild swimming in Lochs Fyne and Eck may be a little cool, even in summer, but certainly invigorating and open water swimming is becoming increasingly popular. With plenty of options for eating out (see recommendations). Lastly, the garden is fenced, gated and secure for the safety of children and your dog. The road, however, is just a quiet single track road with little passing traffic. EPC Rating: Band C

About the location

STRACHUR

Dunoon 18 miles; Inverary 21 miles.

The small village of Strachur sits on the east shore of Loch Fyne on the west side of the Cowal Peninsula in Argyll. From the Gaelic meaning Glen of the Heron, Strachur is just over 60 miles from Glasgow. The original village centre is located about half a mile inland from the loch shore and today it offers the Smiddy Museum and Clachan Inn. On the shore of the loch is a shop, Post Office and tea room and just north is the famous Creggans Inn, previously owned by the renowned adventurer Sir Fitzroy MacLean. The charming town of Inverary is on the opposite sides of the loch and is reached by a pleasant and picturesque drive, passing by the well-known Loch Fyne Oyster Bar. The Town Jail is worth a visit, as is the striking castle which you pass on entering the town. Surrounded by magnificent lochs, forests and mountains, Strachur is located in one of the most spectacular parts of Scotland.

Note: Though electricity is included in the rent, electric for charging cars is not included in the rental.
