The property

Am Bothan is tucked away in the woods, perfect for a luxury break on a long-distance cycle or as a cosy base for an outdoor activity holiday. The 'pod' has been built to a standard expected of any luxury house, with oak finishings, rainhead shower, woodburning stove and floor-to-ceiling glass in both the living area and main bedroom that opens up this compact space and brings the outside in. In fact, it can't really be described as a pod at all as it is much more spacious and equipped with everything that you need, including a small kitchen, although nearby Mhor84 might tempt hungry stomachs after a day cycling! With spectacular views of mountains and woodland, Am Bothan gives visitors the feeling of being “away from it all”, yet it is just a mile from the A84 and several popular long-distance walking and cycling routes. Neighboured by a small residential community yet with surrounding trees and no passers-by gives guests full privacy and seclusion. Storage areas are provided for outdoor equipment, including a lockable cupboard suitable for bikes. The cabin is perfectly situated not only as a luxurious pit stop for long-distance cyclists and walkers, but also for any outdoor enthusiast wanting to explore Highland Perthshire and Stirlingshire. Five Munros are reachable within a 30-minute drive, and nearby Lochs Earn and Lubnaig are popular for watersports. The nearby picturesque village of Callander is popular with tourists, full of independent shops and boutiques and with abundant low-level walks through woodland and to waterfalls. Nearby Balquhidder is the final resting point of folk hero Rob Roy, whose grave is a popular tourist attraction. Whether you’re climbing a mountain, paddle-boarding, cycling or just sightseeing, Am Bothan gives you a cosy base to return to at the end of the day.

Note: This property has a Good Housekeeping bond of £150.

About the location

LOCHEARNHEAD

Callander 14.3 miles. Crieff 19 miles. Perth 40 miles.

The village of Lochearnhead is located at the western end of Loch Earn, a Highland Loch surrounded by mountains and 317ft above sea level. Lochearnhead is a popular area because of the loch and the wide range of watersports on offer, including water-skiing, canoeing, and sailing. At its centre there is a village shop, a post office, and a pub among other small businesses such as B&Bs and a hotel. The Lochearhead Highland Games are held here annually in summer, and they have been a classic part of Scottish culture for centuries. The larger city of Perth lies around 40 miles east, with Glasgow around 50 miles to the south.

Note: Though electricity is included in the rent, electric for charging cars is not included in the rental. Note: The bunk beds are only suitable for children so please bear this in mind when booking.
