The property

This fascinating house, an authentic 16th-century detached farmhouse, sits in an idyllic position at the head of Glen Fruin, in the Loch Lomond and The Trossachs National Park. Here you can experience a real sense of history amongst the echoes of the past, as this is the site, in 1603, of a major battle between the MacGregors and the Colquhouns. The beamed ceilings, stone walls and wood floors all add to the timeless beauty of this very special house. It is surrounded by an acre of attractive terraced gardens where peacocks, ducks and hens roam freely - a chance to collect free-range eggs for breakfast. The owners have chosen to furnish the house in the style of a lived in family home with may artefacts and antiques in evidence in most rooms. This appeals to those looking for a comfy home from home feel but the owners are also happy to remove items for those parties with children. From the gardens, you hear the gentle sounds of the Fruin Water, which flows idly down to Loch Lomond just 8 miles away. Strone House is an ideal location for that special family holiday, and the area offers something for all ages. Anglers and golfers can enjoy their pursuits locally, and hill walkers are spoilt for choice with the Arrochar Alps so close. We draw your attention to the military base at Faslane. From time to time, exercises may be taking place in the general area of Strone House and whilst being of interest to those with an interest in military activities may be a consideration for others.
