“Beautiful setting with spectacular views over the loch, comfy beds and well equipped kitchen.”

Although there is a downstairs twin room which I needed for my elderly parent, there was not a downstairs shower or any wardrobe. Most of the house was clean but the kitchen floor and bin needed cleaning on arrival. Would thoroughly recommend if you get the weather this place is stunning and we saw deer by the loch most evenings

Many thanks from your comments on Ardchattan Manse and we so appreciate them. The description shows there is no downstairs shower but we are hoping to put one in this winter so that the house copes better with those unable to do the stairs. I also apologise for the kitchen floor. We had gone in to put the hot blankets on in the beds for you and I think this happened then by mistake! Property Owner

The property

Ardchattan Manse, has an iconic position surrounded by the waters of Loch Etive on three sides and a protected wooded hill to the back of the property. The house dates back to 1772-3 and was originally lived in by the Minister worshipping at the now derelict local parish church, just over the garden wall. Today it is a family house sitting in its own secluded grounds of around three acres. The house is traditionally furnished, is comfortable and relaxing. Emphasis is placed on the peace and calm of this beautiful house in its unique setting with the front of the house providing stunning views of the water and local wildlife. Extensive lawn and outside terrace provide good opportunities for outside eating and socialising. Children can roam the grounds and enjoy the fun of three private beaches, climbing ropes and swing seats. There is a miniscule wendy house to find in the wood area of the garden. Children (and adults!) have a chance to see the resident family of otters who are frequent but shy visitors to the shore, as are the non-shy towering Sea Eagles, often seen above the property The gardens provide a tranquil setting and include the outline of a traditional old walled Scottish garden. This area of Scotland is noted for its outstanding ‘gulf stream gardens’ and Ardchattan Manse provides an excellent base for garden visiting. Oban has a range of shops selling interesting local products and has some excellent fish restaurants. It is also the hub for all the ferries visiting the Inner and Outer Hebrides including Iona with its long history of religious and artistic influences, these provide wonderful day trips. There are local cycling routes and walking, allowing visitors to enjoy this beautiful area of Argyll.

EPC Rating: Band E
