“A very comfortable stay.”

A few minor issues. Lighting in the living area was poor due to some of the light bulbs not working. The patio door squeaks loudly every time it is opened. We specifically arranged a holiday so our dogs could be with us. It is only when we read the information left on site that we found out that the dogs were not allowed in the bedrooms. We drove past the barn as the image on the website is of the rear of the property and there isn’t a name outside to say it is Owl Bar. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would gladly recommend it to friends and family.

Just what we needed after a day in the snow. A great base to explore the area and so much on the doorstep which was great. We loved the wildlife and the kids enjoyed sledging and skiing in the local fields - a perfect start to 2023.

It had everything you would want. Although we had pretty awful weather during our stay we had the amazing scenery and wild life to watch from the windows. I would recommend this particular house to every one and I have stayed in a number of LHH houses.

“Overall very happy.”

We had a great holiday, in and out. Nice touch with the coffee beans. Literature to cover most things but some are in need of updating e.g bun collections. Previous guests are assumed to have left the barbecue insides very greasy. Shower room extractor fan didn’t work for us. Upstairs lights tripped the fuse a few times. But all these are for owner’s information, we loved every day in this cosy cottage with fantastic walks of all types in close proximity, beautiful countryside, friendly villagers and lots to do. Would recommend without hesitation.

“We are regular visitors to the Owl Barn and always enjoy the tranquility of the location.”

There is plenty to do around the local area and short trips to the likes of Pitochry, Blairgowrie, Alyth etc. take no ore than half an hour. The facilities at the property are excellent and of a very high standard. The enclosed garden is ideal if you have pets and there is plenty of space to relax both indoors and out.

“This is an amazing house, right on the edge of the woods at Kirkmichael.”

It had everything we could possibly want and all finished to the highest standard. the large lounge was perfect if one of us wanted to do a jigsaw whilst the other watched television and the kitchen was big enough to accommodate the 2 crates our dogs travel and sleep in. The little porch inside the front door was great for shedding muddy boots and cleaning paws before venturing into the rest of the house. We had a couple of lovely meals in the Kirkmichael where we found everybody friendly and welcoming. This is a real gem of a cottage and we will certainly be back.

“Owl Barn. Our stay here was delightful - and so peaceful!”

The conversion had been well planned and the level of care and quality of finish was exemplary. This is a property which definitely falls into the luxury category, all the way from the quality of furnishings to the quality and quantity of eating and cooking equipment. The walks in the immediate area were good and those a short(ish) car journey away were even better. The scenery was stunning with colours only just past their best. “Lovely barn conversion with absolutely amazing views from the garden.”

We had a lovely relaxing week at Owl Barn. The garden is secure to let the dogs out to have a wander around and there are plenty of very good dog walks locally. Owl Barn is conveniently located to travel to all the tourist areas in Perthshire. Beautiful house in a beautiful location. Lovely!

Owl Barn is ideally positioned for anyone looking for a walking or cycling holiday as the availability of outdoor pursuits, right from the door, walking trails and cycle routes is immense. For example, the Kindrogan Loop has miles of tracks, the longest route being at Kirkmichael, and will suit anyone who has endurance and a sense of adventure. It also picks up parts of the famous Cateran Trail, a challenging long distance route. For those looking for a more leisurely walk there is the Victorian Burn Walk at Dirnanean Garden near Enochdhu. Or perhaps a meander through birch and pine woodlands, heather moorland and grassy tracks to see remnants of Bronze Age round houses ticks the box? A short easy walk alongside the River Ardle provides a great introduction to the wider Kirkmichael Path Network. Whatever your level of fitness or stamina - all this is possible from stepping outside the door of Owl Barn. Not into an active holiday? Rather just chill out in the Barn and relax? No problem, just open the doors and let the wonderful Perthshire light flood the house while you enjoy the amazing and panoramic views. The village is less than a mile away and here are 2 hotels and a village shop and tea room. BLAIRGOWRIE

Kirriemuir 12 miles; Dundee 12 miles; Perth 19 miles.

The red sandstone town of Blairgowrie is situated on the bank of the river Ericht, where it emerges from spectacular gorges in Strathmore. With good shops, great restaurants and coffee bars, it makes an excellent town to start exploring Perthshire and the beautiful Angus Glens. Surrounded by rolling fields, famed for their berries, the town is overlooked by hills and mountains, and is the main link to Scotlands largest ski centre at Glenshee. The surrounding countryside is the perfect terrain for horse riding, cycling, mountain biking and hill walking, whilst golfers are well-catered for with several excellent courses (including Rosemount) locally. Gleneagles and championship courses of Carnoustie and St Andrews are also within easy reach. Marvel at the world’s tallest beech hedge at Meikleour (600m long and 30m high), see Meigle’s collection of Pictish sculpted stones, or listen to stirring tales at Glamis Castle, the setting for Macbeth and said to be Scotlands most haunted castle! The small town of Dunkeld is also worth a visit with its historic cathedral, riverside walks, impressive trees, such as the Birnam Oak and parent Larches of Dunkeld, and the Hermitage, which offers breath-taking waterfalls. Abundant wildlife frequent the many surrounding woodlands, from red squirrels, foxes and deer to Swifts, Goldcrests and Buzzards, with breeding Ospreys seen at nearby Loch of the Lowes.
