  • "Drumrunie is a beautiful and spacious house with lovely gardens and views of the Cairngorms."

Situated in a prime location, in Braemar, near Mar Lodge Nature Reserve, with access to many interesting walks and within a few miles of Balmoral, Ballater etc. It is nicely furnished and has everything a large family or group needs for a comfortable stay including facilities for young children to play in the garden The owner provides very good instructions on how everything works and responds swiftly if you have any queries. We had a very enjoyable time there and wouldn't hesitate to go back

  • "We've stayed many times at Drumrunie and just love the house and the location in the village."

Everything you need for a great family holiday is catered for and the views are incredible. Cannot wait to stay again, we've already booked for 2024!

  • "Wow, what a stunning house in an amazing setting."

Comfortably slept 4 kids/4 adults and 2 dogs and we still had a room spare. The house was extremely well equipped and garden was big and secure so kids and dogs could pretty much roam free. It was also visited by red squirrels and plenty of bird life. The views of the Cairngorms are great and it's only a half mile from Braemar centre which has a well stocked co-op and plenty of tea/coffee shops and restaurants/bars as well as a microbrewery. We enjoyed many walks in the hills and along the rivers, it didn't seem to matter which direction you set off in there was always an interesting trek that even the kids enjoyed. We stayed for a week and I honestly wish we'd done longer. Could see us returning again as everyone had a great time.

This was our third sojourn and we were blessed with stunning weather, full sun and 24 - 27C unheard of in Braemar and a real bonus. We had a wonderful week.

  • "The house is in a beautiful setting but is also incredibly convenient for being able to walk in to the shops and cafes/restaurants on Braemar."

You feel very welcome and the house is well equipped, with all the touches of a home from home. A great information pack was provided prior to our visit and we found everything we needed and more! It is close to many Munro walks and a Corbett walk direct from the house. The views over the mountains are stunning and it is a very short walk to the river path which eventually leads to Braemar. The garden is beautiful and very well-kept with a lot of garden furniture in different areas if you want to sit outside. The conservatory was a favourite place of the whole family to gather as we all returned from whatever activity we did in the day. We loved the fact that the garden was deer proof so had no worries about the dog escaping and he had the run of the whole garden. In particular we enjoyed watching the birds and red squirrels flock around the feeders, we even saw a Tree Creeper from the conservatory. The downstairs bedroom with easy access en-suite shower room was a real boon for my mother. Beds were comfortable and rooms spacious. Overall a very enjoyable extended family holiday. Thank you!

  • "We loved the house, it worked perfectly."

We only marked it 3 out of 4 on cleanliness as a comparison maybe with a hotel, that does not allow kids and dogs. But the rustic aspect to Drumrunie was perfect for us, it was very comfortable. We loved it and would be back

A large garden with lots of places to sit outside and relax. Everything we needed could be found in the house. Good information was given prior to our visit and we found things easy enough to find. Beds were comfortable and rooms spacious. All the members in our party thoroughly enjoyed their stay.

  • "We can’t speak highly enough of Drumrunie."

The house is in a beautiful setting but is also incredibly convenient for being able to walk in to the shops and cafes/restaurants on Braemar. We didn’t use our car most days as there are so many wonderful walks from the house. The house is very well set out and very well equipped. And the garden was amazing fir our children. We had great fun playing there and enjoyed our daily visits from 3 red squirrels. There is so much to do in the local area. We will absolutely definitely be back.

Should have booked two weeks. Our only concern is that if too many people find out how fantastic the house is we won't be able to have it next year because it will be booked up!

  • "Drumrunie is a fantastic venue."

It commands a view of the surrounding countryside which is truly stunning. The house is beautifully furnished, yet relaxing and welcoming. It has recently been enhanced by the addition of a purpose-designed conservatory which is a great place to sit and watch the red squirrels, deer, bats, grouse and ducks from the local duck pond. Drumrunie would suit parties of all ages and interests and enjoys a location within Braemar which itself remains unspoiled and welcoming. We enjoyed ourselves so much we came back...Ten times now...Beat that !

  • "We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Drumrunie."

The house provided a very warm and homely environment that suited all ages. The flexibility of the accommodation and gardens was also appreciated as was the high level of specification and equipment in the house; particularly, the kitchen. main sitting room and the utility room and external stores. The log burning fire and conservatory attracted a lot of positive feedback from the family. Finally, we would consider visiting the house again in the future and will be happy to recommend the property to others. The key holder (Astrid) was very charming and helpful and the house had been beautifully prepared for our arrival by the housekeepers for which we are very grateful.

  • "We had a wonderful week at Drumrunie with family coming from Vienna, Italy, Manchester, Solihull and the New Forest - 9 of us thoroughly enjoyed our stay, for 3 of us it was coming home to Deeside."

The conservatory is utterly delightful and as dusk approached we had wonderful views of the red deer coming down off the hills to the Dee. Drumrunie is very well-appointed with everything you need, and comfortable and cosy - we lit a fire on two chilly evenings and enjoyed the glow. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED to anyone wanting a sojourn in the magical highlands of Royal Deeside.

  • "Drumrunie is a most attractive and comfortable house with a stunning garden in a very quiet location."

We loved the fact that the garden was deer proof so had no worries about the dogs escaping and the children had plenty of toys to entertain themselves - and also couldn't escape! In particular we enjoyed feeding the birds and watching them flock around the feeders from the wonderful conservatory. A real bonus was the downstairs bedroom with fantastic en-suite shower room - perfect for the more elderly members of our family - and the nearby drawing room provided a welcome sanctuary for those who wanted some quiet time. Our family regularly rent a large house in Scotland and we feel that Drumrunie is probably the best house we have stayed in. On reading the Visitors Book we discovered that some relatives had stayed at the house on two occasions, quite a coincidence! We chose Drumrunie as we were looking for somewhere in the Aberdeen area which would accommodate our number of guests. We also liked the idea that it was within walking distance of the village of Braemar, which we subsequently found to be extremely friendly. We will be back!

  • "Our holiday was excellent and the house fantastic."

We chose the house because we love Deeside and wanted to stay in Braemar. I then simply went on the LHH website as we have used them several times now and always been very pleased with what we have received. The arrival arrangements worked perfectly . The keys easily got, the house clean and tidy and everything presented well. Top marks for your housekeeping staff. There was more than enough equipment and everything we needed from day one was present. We love the garden. We are wildlife lovers so don't really like formal gardens, but yours was a great mix. Our children are all adults but had they been smaller then they would have loved the garden and we would have felt happy that it was so safe and secure for them. Over all we felt the house was the best we have had in the many years our families have spent on holiday together - about 18 years so 18 houses! Thankyou for the privilege of staying in your house.

  • "We had a wonderful holiday and miss Drumrunie, all of the family loved it so much and would like to live there."

The children had a great time playing in the garden and we loved all the different seating areas. There are no improvements to be made, as it was perfect. Our observations about the whole package is "wonderful". My mother in law is from Aberdeen and her relative still lives there. So we were looking for a large house for all of our family to come from Bristol and Enfield and one from Aberdeen. We celebrated a wedding anniversary and a 40th birthday which added to the occasion. We hope to return in the future. Thank you so much.

  • "We had a wonderful 3 days here for a family wedding."

10 adults and 2 kids, three generations from age 70 to 2. The children loved all the toys at the house and the fabulous conservatory, with views to die for, became a man cave. The house is very well equipped with all you would need and more. We couldn't get over all the kitchen equipment, serving dishes, lots of cups, cutlery etc. All the rooms are very comfortable and the living, dining, kitchen and conservatory areas meant that we were not on top of each other, with lots of seating. The proximity to the village allowed us to walk there. Couldn't recommend this house enough if you have a large group.

  • "I've just returned from spending a great week with friends at Drumrunie and would have no hesitation at all in recommending it as somewhere to stay in the area."

We were a party of seven and were easily accommodated in the house, which is bigger than the photos might suggest, and which is very well laid-out - we didn't fully appreciate that until we'd been there for a short while, but it soon became apparent. Our trips to Scotland are an annual event, and we've stayed in some beautiful houses, but in many of them the kitchen has been separated from the lounge areas, sometimes by several other rooms; in Drumrunie the galley kitchen joins the main lounge (which comfortably seated all seven of us) to the conservatory, meaning that those involved in preparing and cooking meals were still part of the group, a big plus and there was a second, equally-comfortable, lounge where those looking for peace and quiet could read undisturbed. The kitchen was extremely well-stocked with utensils, crockery and cutlery, we could easily have eaten a number of meals without using the same items twice - although the two dishwashers meant that wasn't necessary and made it easy to keep up with the chores! The house was not only well-stocked but well-prepared, a good deal of effort had clearly gone into making sure we'd be happy as soon as we walked in the door and the owner, Patrick, even phoned us on our first morning to make sure we'd settled in OK and had everything we needed! Outside, the house is set in beautiful, well-maintained gardens and there are fantastic views in just about every direction. The house is a couple of minutes walk from the centre of Braemar, which boasts a variety of shops, a number of lunch venues and a bistro and a couple of hotels for evening meals (conveniently, a side road halfway down to the village led to an hotel which offered several excellent real ales, the only ones to be had in Braemar, we were told). There was a variety of good walks in the area, ranging from short, relatively flat, strolls to longer, more-demanding hikes. I particularly enjoyed the 'Cairns' walk, on the nearby Balmoral estate (see www.walkhighlands.co.uk) while my Monro-bagging friends had plenty to keep them happy. All in all, a great week in a great place, thanks to all concerned, I'd be very happy to return one day!
