If you have subscribed to the LHH brochure it should be popping through your letterbox this week. The biggest we have ever produced, it features 117 properties that represent the very best self-catering cottages, lodges and retreats in Scotland. Whether you are looking to build sandcastles on the beach with the family, enjoy a romantic break for two in the mountains, or a family reunion in a Victorian mansion then there will be something here to pique your interest. Now is the ideal time to browse the new brochure and start to make plans for next summer, here is just a taster for you, three new additions for this year that cover the gamut of what we offer and that sum up what we stand for. Little, large and luxury, east coast, west coast and central.

Clach Beag is on the edge of the Cairngorms National Park and is the ultimate cosy retreat for two. A private seating area to the side of the house that is illuminated at night is an atmospheric spot to unwind after a day on the hills and a woodburning stove makes for warm winter evenings snuggled up by the fire. A bird feeding area just next door is a big attraction for nature lovers, with squirrels, badgers and pine martins also regularly spotted here. With skiing, distilleries, mountain biking, fishing, fine dining and golf all within easy reach then this is a great getaway at any time of year.

Strath Brora View is a remarkable contemporary designed and extremely spacious house located not far from the north east coastal town of Brora. With 4 bedrooms and absolutely tonnes of space in a modern open plan design this is definitely the place for large families to gather. Every generation will be catered for here with a tv room on the mezzanine level, a games room in the garage, fantastically equipped kitchen and a huge sheltered deck for outside dining. There is also a big variety of attractions within cycling distance such a quiet sandy beach, the Clynelish Distillery or the historic golf course. Meanwhile a short drive is all it takes to get to the mountains of the west coast or the spectacular wilderness of Strathnaver.

Aodann is an amazing architect designed 5-star property that nestles seamlessly into the hillside overlooking Loch Ewe. Everything about the build just screams quality, from the Caithness stone used in construction to the Anta fabrics, luxury towels and 800 thread count linen. The double height social space has huge double-glazed windows to really make the most out of the stunning location with views out to the open sea and down to Poolewe. The property is suitable for those with restricted mobility and two dogs are welcome. With such a captivating view and luxurious interior, it can be hard to find the motivation to tear yourself away but there is so much to do in the area that you will be well rewarded if you do. Inverewe NTS Gardens is a short drive away as is Gairloch and the spectacular beach at Big Sand. For those a little more sporty you can launch a kayak from just below the house or get out and do some cycling. The house is a few miles off the NC500 so there is little passing traffic to disturb the perfect peace and the pedal to the end of the headland then back to the Poolewe Hotel for some freshly caught seafood is highly recommended.
