Lagafater is a secluded Edwardian shooting lodge set amidst 7000 acres of heather moorland in the unspoilt south-western corner of Scotland. It is the perfect place for a quiet retreat, family gathering or large house party.

A four-mile-long private road leads to the lodge and this ensures peace, privacy and tranquillity. For big family groups, this is an exceptional property, offering a value for money self-catering holiday with plenty of things to see and do for the children.

There is a burn beside the house for older children to play in and, some distance away, a deep natural pool for the hardy. This area of Galloway is host to a number of rare plants and animals, and the Glenluce area is steeped in history, especially its ancient ruined 12th-century Cistercian Abbey, which was visited by Robert the Bruce, James IV and Mary, Queen of Scots.

In season, and with good conditions, there is the opportunity to fly-fish for salmon and sea trout, or try your hand at sea fishing. Only nine miles from Glenluce lies the busy ferry port of Stranraer, from where you can take a day trip to Ireland.

In the locality, there are a number of golf courses, fishing lochs, castles, sub-tropical gardens and sandy beaches.

Lagafater is centrally heated and the housekeeper will ensure that your accommodation is warmed for your arrival. Arrangements can be made for groceries to be delivered.
