Cairns House is a stunning, contemporary, seven-bedroom church conversion located in the beautiful Scottish Borders, about an hour from Edinburgh and just 3½ hours by rail from London: this makes it an ideal, ultra-luxurious bolthole from the city.

Cairns House sleeps up to 14 adults and 4 children. The church occupies an elevated position overlooking the Tweed Valley and the Cheviot hills, and dates back to 1878. Now, after extensive and creative restoration, this magnificent contemporary home is available for self-catering holidays.

The church divides into the main body of the church and the vestry. The main church has five bedrooms (three with en suite wet rooms), two bathrooms, and a vast 54-foot x 34-foot living space on the first floor, which has an amazing opaque glass floor accessed by an equally gorgeous mahogany, oak and glass staircase. The vestry has been renovated in a more classic style, using Farrow and Ball colours, and connects internally with the main house. This part of the house has two bedrooms, both with en suite bathrooms, and a large 31-foot x 16-foot living space.

The church is vast and the space has been developed to create a truly unique family home which, despite its ethereal look, is in fact a comfortable living space for families with children who will find the warmed floors a delight to play on.

There are a number of bespoke features to the property, including a contemporary, brushed aluminium chandelier by Mike Stoane of Edinburgh, travertine flooring and a vast hammer-beam vaulted ceiling.

Surrounding the church is a stylish, elevated hardwood deck leading to a sheltered walled garden to the rear - here you can sit out on the terrace and dine whilst taking in the tranquil Scottish Borders view.

It is impossible to convey the sheer beauty of this church conversion whilst at the same time emphasising the comfort and luxury of this very special space. This is a holiday home for those with an appreciation of the finer things in life!
