Château de Brechan is a small, 19th-century château approached down a long, tree-lined avenue which is the private driveway to the château. Surrounded by formal lawns and parkland, the château and its 100-acre, private estate is at your disposal to explore and relax in. Incorporating lawns and woodland, the grounds provide a very peaceful and relaxing hideaway.
The Domaine comprises 100 acres of park, meadows and oak woods. In the park there is a pigeonnier, enclosed swimming pool and an all-weather tennis court. There is extensive walking in both the grounds of the château and in the wider countryside. There are Bastide towns to visit, and many churches of historical interest; markets and restaurants are within easy access.
From the grand hallway, the doors of the château lead you on to the terrace, down to the lawns and onwards to the fenced swimming pool and tennis court. The main terrace has outdoor tables and chairs as well as parasols; there is a second terrace which can be accessed from the first floor and is ideal for those wanting the early morning sunshine as soon as they leave their bedroom.
Weddings, birthdays, family celebrations and conferences have been successfully held here. There is a French housekeeper who is employed to be of service to you during your stay. She is also available for babysitting by private arrangement.
The château and gîte are available to rent together during July and August. During these months the château can also be taken without the gîte. During the rest of the year only the gîte is available, although occasionally the château may be rented for special occasions, such as New Year or Easter.
The Gîte:
Château de Brechan has a gîte which, in addition to being rented with the house, can also be rented separately from the main house, excluding June/July and August. This sleeps 12 comfortably – master bedroom with en suite bath and wc, and six additional bedrooms which all have en suite shower and wc as well as one separate bathroom. There is a large sitting/dining room with log burning stove, a fully fitted kitchen and private terrace for dining.
There is a caretaker and family in full-time residence on the domaine to look after the house and grounds. By prior arrangement, shopping, cooking, and baby sitting can also be provided.
