Ospisdale House is new to the self-catering market in 2009, having been a family home for many years. Now, still used by the family for their own holidays, it is available to others to enjoy the unique, old-world charm of this rather wonderful house.
Dating back to the early 1600s, and extended in 1745, the house sits in approximately ten acres of garden grounds and is approached down an impressive tree-lined avenue, resplendent in spring with daffodils and snowdrops. The gardens range from formal flower beds and borders to wilder areas with hidden pathways leading to the three ponds. The largest of the ponds has a lovely seat perched on an elevated site facing south to catch the sun.
The main reception rooms on the ground floor are imposing yet comfortable, a mix of traditional antiques and country-house-style furnishings. The main drawing room has a marble fireplace and a baby grand piano, plenty of seating, and commands lovely views across the garden and surrounding countryside.
The billiard room boasts original oak panelling and a fireplace with wood burning stove. Due to the exceptional furnishings, flooring and amenities, it is requested that this room is only used by adults for the purpose of playing snooker or billiards.
This wonderfully secluded house is ideal for family holidays, groups of friends, or special event celebrations.
