Blairmore village lies on the shores of Loch Long, within the Loch Lomond & The Trossachs National Park, and is surrounded by loch and forest views and walks, in a quiet but easily accessible part of beautiful Argyll. Blairmore can be reached by road or ferry in just over an hour from Glasgow city centre or airport. Sea View Cottage, built around 1858, is on the perimeter of Blairmore House, which was originally owned by the Younger family who founded the nearby world-famous Benmore Botanic Gardens, and enjoys an enviable elevated location overlooking Blairmore Pier, and has uninterrupted sea views across Loch Long and up the Firth of Clyde as far as the eye can see. Cleverly, every room enjoys a sea view in this sea-facing cottage. Internally, the cottage offers a private, cosy charm with a wood burning stove and natural wooden floors and finishes throughout, yet it also has surprisingly elegant high ceilings and tall windows which make the interior beautifully bright and spacious.
It is an ideal choice for a romantic getaway or for an active outdoor family holiday. Nearby there are numerous opportunities for cycling and walking on forest trails in Ardentinny, Carrick Castle, Kilmun Arboretum, Puck’s Glen, Loch Eck and Glenbranter. The Isle of Bute is a short drive or bus journey away. Sea fishing can be enjoyed at the end of Blairmore Pier, and loch fishing and boat hire can be arranged on Loch Eck from the Coylet Inn. The Waverley Paddle Steamer calls at Blairmore Pier in the summer season, as does the Second Snark daily ferry to Helensburgh. Strone & Blairmore Golf Club is a five-minute stroll along the High Road and welcomes non-members. Quadmania offers quad-biking, archery and a variety of outdoor activities and is approximately two miles from the cottage. There is a plentiful selection of inns and restaurants within a 10-mile radius, and Loch Fyne Oyster Bar is a 45-minute drive through glorious scenery.
Close by are the Younger Botanic Gardens at Benmore with their collections of rare and endangered plants, endless varieties of species rhododendron and some of the largest trees in Britain - a fir tree at the gardens currently stands at 180 feet, although the tallest tree in the area is at Cairndow and is a massive 200 feet tall.
Nearby Loch Eck is called the 'Mirror Loch' because of its startling reflections, and the peaceful shores of this loch offer plenty of picnic spots.
Entry to the cottage is down flower-lined steps from the High Road, where parking is available. A grassed area is available for sitting and dining outside.
