Situated on the west coast of Scotland in Argyll, within the Loch Lomond & The Trossachs National Park, Highgate Lodge House offers stunning uninterrupted sea views over Loch Long and the Firth of Clyde from both the house and extensive gardens. The constant ebb and flow of tides, combined with a wide variety of birds and wildlife, provide a fascinating, relaxing yet ever-changing vista. Seals and porpoises are regular visitors and can been seen from the house. The famous Waverley Paddle Steamer calls at Blairmore Pier during the summer season, and various naval, fishing and pleasure vessels occasionally pass by. Pier fishing, for mackerel and pollock, is just a short walk away. Further across the water, the hills and village of Cove on the Rosneath peninsula are clearly visible. The early morning sun pours into the front of the house and lends an almost Mediterranean feel with sun and shimmering seas. For total relaxation, just an hour from Glasgow, it’s really quite unbeatable.
Inside, the house offers comfortable and homely accommodation, sleeping 16 in four king-size and four twin bedrooms. Some rooms have stunning loch views, while others have relaxing woodland views. The added attraction of the leisure suite, comprising a 25-foot indoor heated swimming pool and a glass-fronted infrared sauna, means that both adults and children can enjoy the loch views and a warm atmosphere, even if it's cold outside. A games room with pool table, and an outdoor full-sized table tennis table, provide additional opportunities for diversion. There’s plenty to keep everyone occupied at Highgate Lodge House, regardless of the weather.
There is a Finnish barbecue hut in the wooded area at the rear of the house, which provides a fairy tale cottage by day and an unforgettable indoor campfire experience by night. Regardless of the weather outside you can enjoy a cosy campfire feast with family and friends. A superb swing arrangement, including hammock swing, is sturdy enough for adults to use safely, whilst relaxing and enjoying the sea air and loch views: it’s a totally therapeutic experience for children of any age!
Additional accommodation close by: Sea View Cottage (sleeps 4) separately available if required, 5-minute walk. Details on Little Holiday Houses website.
