The School House was built in 1876 and was a school for approximately 108 years. Offering exceptional standards in the most tranquil of locations, The School House provides a comfortable and impressive holiday home for up to eight people, and is ideal for those wishing to enjoy some of Scotland's most dramatic and beautiful areas.

Glenfinnan is situated on the famous Road to the Isles and is a picturesque Highland village. There are several local attractions, including the National Trust Visitor Centre, the famous Glenfinnan Monument, Loch Shiel Cruises, and Glenfinnan railway station which has a museum and an impressive viaduct. There is also a romantic church overlooking Loch Shiel, and two hotels that welcome non-residents.

The famous Jacobite Steam Train (featured in the second Harry Potter film as the ‘Hogwarts Express’) passes through Glenfinnan on its way to Mallaig twice daily in the summer months and is considered to be one of the finest railway journeys in the world.

The town of Fort William ('Outdoor Capital of the UK'), renowned as the location of the UK's highest mountain, Ben Nevis, together with the Nevis Range Ski Centre and downhill mountain bike course, are all within an easy half hour drive. Inverness (Highland Capital) to the north, and the beautiful Glencoe to the south, are both within reasonable reach for a day trip.

The islands of Skye, Rum, Muck, Eigg and Canna can be visited from nearby Mallaig and Arisaig. Arisaig has a picturesque sandy beach that featured in the film 'Local Hero', and is a favourite of children and adults alike.
