Property information

An absolutely unique holiday house with so much in house entertainment you need never go out! Relax in the hot tub (gowns and slippers provided), or exercise in the endless swim pool, watch your favourite film in the cinema or have your own snooker tournament on the competition snooker table. Children are catered for with oodles of games both indoors and outdoors including a great 'fort; swings, slides and climbing equipment. Then all gather together, at any time of the year, and enjoy a great barbecue in the Finnish Grillkota which seats 20. This house is truly unbeatable in leisure facilities for all ages.

Branxholm Park House is an impressive, traditional country house full of period charm situated in the beautiful Teviot valley approximately three miles from the Scottish Borders town of Hawick. It is conveniently located for access to Edinburgh, where there is an international airport. However, it is ideal family holiday house with oodles for children to do from playing in the amazing fort in the gardens, swings and indoor games plus the opportunity to accompany the owner to feed the ducks, hens, ponies and goats! Children love having the freedom to roam and with so much to entertain the children, parents can enjoy themselves too!

Wet weather days and evenings are no problem with all the indoor entertainment you need including a cinema room, snooker room, piano and plenty of games and books. Evenings spent in the large drawing room with a roaring log fire or dining in the spacious and elegant dining room will leave you with memories to treasure of time spent with family and friends.

The house has been successfully used as a wedding venue and the owner can assist with the catering arrangements. From early November the house is decorated with a large tree and fully decorated in Victorian Christmas style.

Hawick is a market town sitting on the picturesque Teviot River. It offers a wide range of local amenities, including many restaurants and attractive shops selling local produce. The recently opened Heart of Hawick attraction boasts a state-of-the-art restaurant, cinema, theatre, family history archive facility and local history centre, and Drumlanrig's Tower is a fun tourist attraction with life-size figures portraying the life of the Border Reivers. Hawick Leisure Centre has the largest swimming pool in the Borders and includes flume slides for children.

The surrounding countryside provides a wide variety of sport and leisure opportunities, including fishing, shooting, walking and horse-riding. The Borders are very well provided with a wide variety of excellent golf courses - hilly, level and riverside included. The low cost and easy availability will be a new and very welcome experience for those coming from abroad or the overcrowded south. You can purchase a 'Freedom of the Fairways' ticket, which gives access to no less than 21 of them in the area, the nearest being in Hawick.

Mountain biking is well catered for, and within easy reach is the famous Glentress Forest course near Peebles, which has been rated as one of the best courses in Europe, and also the Innerleithen downhill course for the really brave!

Branxholm Castle lies a short distance to the south-east, whilst Goldielands Tower, a conspicuous 16th-century watchtower, dominates the surrounding area. Craik Forest, reputedly the largest man-made woodland in Europe, is only a few miles distant.

The house has been beautifully refurbished and offers a comfortable and relaxing but charming, traditional family house for the larger party. It is situated only two miles from the village of Newmill where there is a pub/restaurant and garage. The River Teviot, well known to anglers, runs through the valley beneath the house. Slightly further away is Alemoor Loch, where there is good trout fishing, and there is plenty of scope for walking and riding in the surrounding hills.

The owners occupy a separate wing of the house (no interior connection) and are there to assist you if required. The owners can offer babysitting (qualified child-minder), catering and additional housekeeping. They also keep horses, pygmy goats, ducks and hens which are always a hit with children in the party.

The house and its facilities are just wonderful and I personally could have spent all day every day with the goats, Cookie the cat and Sandy the dog (Cookie practically became part of the family!). The new water massage bed, jacuzzi and exercise pool are brilliant additions, as well as the basement bar. Thank you so much for a memorable holiday. Already booked to come back next year!

Our family of 8 adults and five children have just spent the first week of the Easter holidays at Branxholm and had a truly marvellous time. Beautiful mansion house in stunning surroundings. Deb and David were very friendly and helpful giving advice of where to go, where to eat etc! The kids especially loved the animals and we all enjoyed feeding them. Our youngest grandchild was often seen walking about with a chicken in her arms! Hilarious! The facilities are amazing and believe you me we all used them to the full! We also had the pleasure of using their water massage bed which is awesome!!!! We hope to return one day. Thank you Deb and David!

We recently stayed for a long weekend for a birthday celebration and had a fabulous time. The house was everything we had hoped for and Debbie and David couldn't have been more welcoming. There was plenty of space for our party of 14 adults and 6 children and the snooker room and hot tub were a hit for us all. We hope to visit again and thoroughly recommend Branxholm Park House.

We stayed at Branxholm House from 16th-23rd July and had our wedding at the house on the 20th. Up to 22 of us comfortably stayed throughout the week in the stunning house which has everything you could ask for, from comfortable lovely bedrooms to the hot tub and BBQ hut in the amazing gardens! We used Debbie and David for catering our wedding day and could not have been happier with what they did for us on our big day! From setting up the rooms, decor, a sensational meal with waiter service and making us a wonderful wedding cake to name only a few! They could not have done more for us and helped make our day and week incredible....I could recommend them for catering any occasion you may be staying at the house for. We will most definitely be back at Branxholm Park House in the future....one guest already dreaming of renewing her wedding vows there at some point! Thank you Debbie and David for the most perfect week.

18 friends and I celebrated my 50th in style in Branxholm Park House two weeks ago. It was amazing - from the warmth of the house (not a penny spared on central heating), a lighted fire on our arrival, the comfort of each room, the detail of the beautiful unique décor, the scenery, the Spring walks from the door along rivers, through valleys with new born lambs, suckling calves, primroses, sunshine and snow showers!) and the hot tub. We cooked and ate and made merry. It was really fantastic. The only downside we all experienced were the pangs we felt everywhere we turned "Oh the children would love that!" "The kids should be here" "Must come back with our families." - fort, giant games, cinema, geese, chickens, full size pool table, box of hats, every single detail. Seriously it is the most amazing house any of us had ever stayed in. Branxholm Park House is the PERFECT location for families, adult break, weddings or any occasion. THANK YOU.

We had a wonderful week in Branxholm Park House. It is a blend of luxury and homeliness which let us all settle in right away. From age 9 to 87 we loved it. Hope to revisit. Thank you.

Had long weekend break at this fabulous house with a large party mid December. Absolutely fabulous. Lads enjoyed the full size snooker, kids and adults loved the games room, cinema and hot tub. Plenty of room, even with a large party. Thanks to Debbie & David the perfect host and Christmas dinner was fabulous, thanks again. Great photos around the Xmas tree and log coal fires and perfect dinner/table setting. The kids even enjoyed the animals around. Great get together with our families. Really nice place to stay, would recommend to all. Hope to visit in summer sometime. Xmas break fabulous. The Gordon's & family x

We absolutely LOVE this house!!! We first visited Branxholm Park House in September 2011. We will always have very special memories of it as it's where we were married, surrounded by family and friends, it was perfect!!! In November 2014 we returned for a weekend with all our family to celebrate the 40th birthdays of my husband and sister. This time there were a few more kids thrown into the mix and everyone, young and old(ish), had such a fantastic weekend. The new additions of the cinema, hot tub and BBQ hut were very nice touches, enjoyed by everyone. It's was also lovely to return to the master bedroom, this time equipped with a beautiful roll top bath with spectacular views, ooooh la la!!! The snooker table was also a great hit, with many a tournament played. The kids loved all the animals too, they were very friendly and very photogenic :) Thanks for another lovely stay Debbie. It was really lovely to see you again. And we were so happy to see the Christmas tree up, getting everyone into the festive spirit. Hope to see you again one day soon...... we just need to think up the next occasion! Ciara and Simon Michaelson xx

An October half term break, enjoyed by 18 family and friends travelling from all over north-west England. The house catered admirably for our varied age group (8 - 57). The weather was mixed but it did not stop the party from enjoying all aspects of the property. The youngsters loved the hot tub and the home cinema, whilst the young at heart where happy to relax by the log fire and read or complete jigsaws. Everything about Branxholm Park was suited for a large party. Thanks for a fabulous time.

A large group of us arrived at Branxholm Park House on the 2nd of August for 7 nights and we had the most wonderful time. There were 10 adults and 12 children ranging from the ages of 1yr to 17 yrs old and we can say that the house catered magnificently for such a diversity in ages. We particularly enjoyed the hot tub, cinema room and visiting the animals every day. The rooms were very well appointed and comfortable. We were there to celebrate our 40th birthdays and we had a formal meal cooked for us by the owners which was very tasty, well presented and a lovely treat! We were all very sorry to have to leave and we would recommend this house without hesitation.

We spent a wonderful weekend at Branxholm Park House in mid December, the house was beautifully decorated for Christmas with a huge tree. The house provided spacious accommodation for our party of 15 ranging in ages from 18 months to 60+ years, with plenty to keep the children entertained. Debbie catered our evening meals which were lovely, especially the special birthday celebration. Thanks for a great weekend, Debbie

We booked this gorgeous house for a surprise 60th birthday weekend for my husband (13 of us stayed in the house) and we couldn't have found anywhere better. It is a beautiful home in which we felt immediately comfortable. The facilities were excellent; a really well equipped kitchen, snooker room etc., and the bedrooms were fabulous, many with exceptional views over the surrounding countryside. The owners were lovely and very welcoming. I would certainly recommend Branxholm Park to my friends and would love to stay again. Frances Kelly

We have just spent a fantastic week at Branxholme - first with 15 family members from 7 months to 70+ and then with a group of friends. The house is comfortable, well equipped and ideal for all ages. The garden is wonderful for children and there is plenty to do in the area from lovely walks to historic houses. The owners are very helpful.
  • The Semple Family
Thank you, Debbie and David, for letting us use your friendly home. We had a marvellous weekend. The house was ideal for us all and the garden great fun for the kids. Your cooking was excellent and plentiful.
  • Sue Date and Family of 22
We would recommend this house to anyone wanting to arrange a large get together, there were 22 in our party and the house was spacious enough that we weren't under each others feet. The house is well suited to any age from 2 year olds, teenagers to adults and the oldies. The males in our group especially enjoyed the snooker room. We had some good games of rounders on the garden and the children loved the trampoline and forts. The owners were welcoming and helpful, the home made scones were a lovely touch (thankyou) The meal we had prepared was lovely and made a nice change (thankyou again!)
  • The McKay Family
We stayed at Branxholm Park for two weeks in July 2009 and had a marvelous time reuniting with friends and family. There was plenty of space and activities galore for all ages. The kitchen is wonderful -- very spacious and with two dishwashers, the snooker table huge, the roses delightful, the trampoline a real hit with the kids, the views magnificent, the owners (right next door) always caring and helpful but never intrusive. The house is only 3 miles outside of Hawick (convenient for grocery shopping), but the house's beautiful surroundings truly made you feel like you were far away from it all. Thanks for a wonderful holiday!
  • Ruth Beer
A luxurious and spacious accomodation that kept three generations happy and amused for the week. Thank you

If you are looking for a wedding venue, (or a holiday home) I could not recommend Branxholm Park House more highly. We have just spent a fantastic week there and the facilities are excellent. Debbie and David made every effort to make our stay feel like we were welcome guests. They are very discrete, yet are available if needed. All the rooms are spacious, clean and tastefully decorated. Debbie is a wedding organiser in her own right and she was very helpful and accommodating in the wedding planning. We held the wedding at the house (licensed) and both the house and landscaped grounds are so beautiful and suitable for such an occasion. Again, thanks, what wonderful hosts. Greg Hunt and family.
  • The Hay Family
We have just spent a wonderful weekend in this house celebrating a 70th birthday. The house is fantastic, very comfortable and spacious. The snooker table was particularly popular and there were more than enough games and toys for the children. The owners Debbie and David are a lovely couple and were more than helpful. We look forward to our next visit.

  • The Garlick 40th Birthday Party !
A fantastic party house. We had 17 "adults" celebrating a 40th birthday and the facilities were perfect. Highly recommended. Spacious, yet cosy. Fantastic games room. Wonderful dining room. All round 9/10 !
  • The Thorns & chums
Beautiful house. The layout means it's a lovely friendly house, great for smaller kids. Also a great situation for plenty of activities if the weather is poor (swimming pool, cinema etc within easy reach), although it's in a lovely peaceful setting. We had a great holiday and couldn't have been made more welcome by the owners. We will be returning.
