Property information

5 Riof has been a labour of love by the present owners who, taking an unremarkable bungalow, have totally reworked and restructured the house to present a beautifully designed, cedar clad, holiday lodge on the southern shores of Loch Roag. Internally the house has been decorated tastefully and in keeping with its surroundings and location in order to maximise the benefit of the amazing views. The furnishings are all top quality and you will find luxury linens and towels for your stay. With 2 bedrooms and 2 bath/shower rooms this is a very comfortable holiday house for 2 couples sharing or for a family of four. The kitchen will be a delight to work in being equipped to a high standard and forming part of the main open plan area. Those with a love of the great outdoors will not be disappointed and will find that the garage offers the space to store bikes and kayaks safely. Kayaking on Loch Roag is a popular activity and for those needing a more challenging sea experience, how about taking a trip to St Kilda with SeaTrek - just along the road at Miavaig harbour. Riof is approximately an hour drive from Stornoway and slightly longer to Tarbert in Harris, both Ferry Terminals from the mainland and Skye. Being this distance from both opens up day trips to Harris and to the north of Lewis. So much to see and so much to do, but we are certain the attractions of 5 Riof will be hard to leave!

    This property is 5 star plus! It's location on the bank of the loch is wonderful. You can enjoy the amazing views from inside as well as out, thanks to the bifold doors that run along the property. The house is superbly furnished and is warm and comfortable. There are some amazing beaches close by and the location gives you the opportunity to explore the north of Lewis and Harris to the south should you be able to tear yourself away from the wonderful scenery that is right on the doorstep. Rebeccah contacted us beforehand to give us lots of useful information about life on Lewis which was really helpful and she also left us a lovely selection of welcome goodies.

    We just thought we would send you some feedback on our stay at 5 Riof. Initially your directions were absolutely spot on, especially as we were arriving at 10.30 at night. 5 Riof is beautiful and is of course pristine and is in a lovely location. The only small addition we could suggest is a visitor's book to enable guests to tell you how lovely the house is and what they did during their stay. We had researched the area before our visit and used your information booklet, which was very helpful. We ate at The Edge and at Loch Chrostain and visited the cafes at Uig and Breascleit on Great Bernera. The whole community set up at Uig is terrific. We bought scallops and oysters a couple of times, from Dave at the Scallop Shack, which were lovely. Finally, we had a power cut for about an hour, which was fun when we played scrabble by head torch light. Overall, we enjoyed our second visit to the Hebridies very much, in no small way due to staying in your lovely house. Regards Jf & GF – 8/9/17

    Just a wee note to say thank you for allowing us to stay in your gorgeous house. We commented many times over the last couple of weeks how perfect both the house and the location were... and when do you get the chance to stay somewhere where everything is new! We delighted too in the 'detail' - welcome pack inspired and flowers a nice touch. Off to source a Marmalade diffuser too! As you'll have seen we landed on our feet with the weather - its was gorgeous for 10 days straight by which time we then enjoyed the wet'n'windy we which had latterly. The Wii gadget thing a big success too with the teens. We very much hope to come and stay again and wish you all success in your new venture, LW -29/7/17
