More information about Mill Cottage

Property information

Mill Cottage is definitely the perfect location for those who really want seclusion and peace but would still like the benefit of an historic and vibrant village under 5 miles away. Dunkeld is one of Scotland's most fascinating small towns surrounded by classic Highland landscape and with the famous salmon river, the Tay, gliding through the centre.

Dunkeld offers year-round entertainment in music and arts so there is always something new to experience. There are several independent shops offering quality foods and wines and a variety of unique gift shops. Other fascinating villages and towns to visit are Blair Atholl, Pitlochry and Bruar - where you will find the famous House of Bruar Visitor Centre.

Of course all our bird watching enthusiasts will know of the fame of the Loch of the Lowes Ospreys and the viewing hide is, conveniently, a pleasant 2 mile walk along the loch side. The private road to the cottage is used only for access to the handful of houses here and so peaceful and quiet and safe for cycling. The cottage has a most peaceful setting and being on a private, no through road ensures some degree of privacy. Walks from the house lead through woods and around the loch and for more strenuous hill walking the Perthshire mountains are in striking distance.

Outdoor pursuits fanaticists should check out 'Nae Limits', a company dedicated to organising some of the most challenging days on the river, hill or rock face - or just a beginners taster in white water rafting or canyoning. Whatever turns the adrenalin on!

All in all, a perfect all-round best location for a holiday.

Lovely cottage in secluded setting. Cottage is furnished and maintained to a high standard. Excellent location with plenty to explore nearby. Lots of forest walks which our dog loved. Would highly recommend.

We were very impressed with this cottage, kitted out to a high standard it was perfect for us. The rural location yet only a short drive into town was perfect. Our dog loved the walks near by as did our daughter. There are a few properties near by but barely seen anyone which was great. The kitchen is well kitted out and instantly regretted bringing our own wok to cook with as there is every pot pan wok and bowl you could ever need for a week here. Quite nights in front of the log burner were perfect. Has a small book and dvd collection plus board games which was nice.

Such a sweet cottage set in a lovely quiet spot with scenic views. The wild life is abundant, many birds, including pheasants in the garden. We saw deer in the fields across from the cottage and heard owls hooting. The night sky is amazing on a clear night. The cottage is finished to a high standard and well equipped with everything you need for a comfortable and enjoying stay. It's a truly cosy cottage with a pretty garden. Lots of wonderful walks in the area, particularly in the Tay Forest and there is a delightful walk along by the River Tay. We would definitely stay here again.

What a wonderful retreat. Spent a week in August and the cottage is delightfully comfortable and the welcome basket an added bonus. Within easy reach of many of Scotland's wonderful attractions I would certainly recommend this for your stay and would book the cottage again ourselves.

Just returned from a week of relaxation at this cottage and we can't wait to return. The cottage is immaculately clean and very comfortable. The garden attracts a variety of wildlife, especially red squirrels and there is numerous walks straight from the doorstep. We will be recommending this cottage to all our family and friends.

We have just spent an amazing 5 days at Mill Cottage. What a lovely, beautiful cottage.. everything in it is so complimentary to its surrounding and the quality is just superb. We have enjoyed the garden, enjoyed having our lunch on the garden table, enjoyed playing with my granddaughter who is 2, round the garden, and enjoyed the quiet and peace that the area affords. Dunkeld is a lovely village and so to be just up the road from it, the location is just perfect. As my granddaughter goes to bed in the afternoon and at 6.30 in the evening my daughter and I have enjoyed peaceful evenings, reading and chatting with the fire blazing. We will hopefully return on many occasions in the future.
  • Richard Jarret
Spent a lovely week at Mill Cottage in April. Property is secluded but not remote and, as you can see from the pictures, the fit and finish of the property and the furnishings is top-notch. Beautiful rural surroundings, we could see the Ospreys circling from the garden and had frequent visits from Pheasants and other less obtrusive wildlife. Dunkeld is very close by with a small store and a good Deli for everyday essentials and for larger supplies there is a large Tesco and an M&S Simply Food a mere 15 minutes down the A9. Pitlochry is 25 mins to the North and Aberfeldy within striking distance too -and with the best coffee we had all holiday to be found (at Habitat Cafe) making the journey very worthwhile ! Hope to be able to return and spend some more time here in the not-too-distant future.
