More information about Seashell Cottage

Property information

Seashell Cottage is a traditional stone built cottage, situated right in the heart of the village of Cromarty, at the tip of the popular Black Isle peninsula. All amenities are within immediate walking distance including: dolphin watching cruises with EcoVentures; well stocked store; a bakery for fresh daily produce; a specialist cheese deli; a post office; a restaurant with wood fired pizza oven and cafe selling home made ice cream; a hotel with restaurant open to the public and a pub with bar food. There is an award winning Court House Museum and an Art Exhibition centre. The Old Brewery Cromarty Centre frequently features live musicians and events and the, now legendary, Cromarty Film Festival takes place here annually.

The beach is a stroll from the house and varies from sandy to shingle. Alternatively, a circular walk along the shore, up through woodland to the top of the South Sutor hill and back down, is a great way to get some exercise. All this is without even leaving the village! Venture further on the Black Isle and there are yet more attractions for the holiday maker from the terrific cycle tracks at Red Rock Learnie, the long sandy beach and beach cafe at Rosemarkie, a Pictish Museum at Rosemarkie and most spectacular of all - standing on the shore at Chanonry Point in Fortrose and watching the dolphins leap out of the water!

There are several other excellent restaurants on the Black Isle including The Anderson in Fortrose, The Station in Avoch and the Allangrange Arms in Munlochy.

If you still feel the need to leave the Black Isle then Inverness is just 30 minutes away and Loch Ness under an hour drive.

The cottage is beautifully appointed, light and airy and will be a delightful place to return to after exploring all The Black Isle and beyond has to offer.

There is parking outside the house but with a bus stop to Inverness nearby it is possible to have a car free holiday at this lovely cottage.

We had a fabulous week and I would love you to pass on my comments to the owners. Booking with LHH was great and I especially appreciated the clear and full correspondence from both LHH and Morven the housekeeper. The cottage was just perfect. So clean and comfortable and homely. Morven clearly takes great pride in looking after the cottage and gave us a lovely welcome. The beds are extra comfy and the lovely linen appreciated as well as the beautiful furnishings and decor. The shower is brilliant- a treat in the morning. We loved cosying into the lounge - just wish I had more time to enjoy the DVDs and books. We shared lovely times round the kitchen table and appreciated the lovely crockery and the fact the cupboards had some cooking essentials. Last special mention to the fish key rings! Honestly the loveliest holiday house we have had the pleasure of staying in. We felt so at home and were all really sad to leave . All in all a very special week. We hope to return next year.

What a fabulous find! Clean and comfy cottage. Fabulous and helpful neighbours, housekeepers go beyond and above this one is on the "return" list. Thank you Morven and Dee.

We found Seashell cottage very comfortable and well appointed. The supply of DVD's, paperbacks, useful OS maps etc was much appreciated. The beds were really comfy and the kitchen had everything one needed and more! Key collection was easy and LHH gave us great service. I have been recommending you.

My husband and I really liked this cottage, it is one of the nicest we have stayed in. We don't often consider returning to a place we have been to (too many other places to see!) but we are thinking of going back to Seashell Cottage and Cromarty. The cottage is decorated to a high standard, although the kitchen isn't quite as bright as the photos make it look. Seating in living room is comfortable - which is often not the case in rental properties I've found. Beds are comfy too. Bathroom small but workable. Cromarty is a lovely wee place with lots to see and do, although new visitors should be aware that the firth is used by the oil industry to repair rigs so this does spoil the view somewhat but this is all part of the Cromarty scenery- so don't let it put you off going. Great place for cyclists as local traffic very considerate.

We have been to Seashell Cottage twice and thoroughly enjoyed our stay each time. It is a snug little cottage, very clean and with all mod cons such as WiFi. The wood-burning stove makes for cosy winter evenings. Our 3-months old daughter slept very well in the travel cot provided. The cot comes with a bassinet (2nd level) for babies, which is nice and back-friendly for parents. There is a bakery just round the corner for fresh bread and croissants in the mornings and Sutor Creek, a popular restaurant, is not far either. We would definitely recommend this cottage and will certainly visit again in the future. Ute & Markus, Bristol
