More information about Peninsula Cottage

Property information

Peninsula Cottage sits right on the edge of the sea and just a short walk from a large sandy beach and also another beach just round the bay where seals are frequently lying close to the shore and can be seen easily. Listening to their haunting 'song' is so wonderful and not to be missed. Visit Scotland have awarded this cottage one of the rare 5 star grades and it certainly deserves it. From the moment you arrive it is apparent that every attention to detail to ensure a pleasurable and comfortable stay has been made. The house has been refurbished to the highest standard and the rental includes the use of the hot tub, 2 bikes, a computer and free Broadband access. The furnishings are all of a high standard and beds are comfortable with lovely linens and covers. Luxury fluffy towels are provided too. The use of Hebridean Tweed enhances the island connection and the whole cottage is light and relaxing.

Panoramic sea and bay views across Broad Bay to The Braighe are a significant attraction of the living room and the glass sliding wall will offer an endlessly fascinating visual display, whatever mood the sea presents. An inset gas, real flame fire, large flat screen TV with Sky and the computer station with free broadband access all add that special something, not often found in self catering. There is a hot tub in the secluded and private area of the rear garden with a garden table and seating to the side. The heated garage stores 2 mountain bikes for use by guests and additional garden seating. There is plenty of space in here for leaving boots, kayaks, fishing or golfing gear etc.

The kitchen is superbly appointed with many additional extras not often found; Denby tableware, coffee machine, Bosch oven and grill - all new for 2012. There is a breakfast table in the kitchen and a formal dining table in the sitting room. Again these are furnished with high standard table and glassware.

The bedrooms are spacious and the bathroom particularly so with a deep oval bath and a rain head star shower. The bedlinen is 400 count Egyptian cotton, all of which ensures that you enjoy a top rated 5 star experience when staying at Peninsula Cottage.

Stornoway, the main town and ferry port of Lewis is just 10 minutes drive and the airport is closer which means that once on Lewis you are soon ensconced in comfort and can start to unwind into 'island time' which you will find runs much slower than 'mainland time'! From here you can visit all the best attractions that the Isles of Lewis and Harris have to offer whether that is the famous Callanish Stones, the Carloway Broch, the Tweed makers and the many craft centres on the Lewis or the fabulous and world famous Harris beaches with such evocative names - Luskentyre, Scarista, Horgabost and Seilebost, to name just a few.

Sail to the St Kilda Islands for a once in a lifetime experience or just stay put and relax and chill out in this fabulous cottage by the sea. The natural environment attracts walkers, cyclists, kayakers, photographers and all those with a passion for nature. The islands are steeped with rich culture and history and have a reputation for tradition and warm and welcoming locals.

Peninsula Cottage is situated on the Eye Peninsula in the crofting village of Aignish. It has been fully renovated in 2012 and furnished in a contemporary style.

Penisula Cottage was lovely and very well equipped. The location was fantastic with two beautiful beaches just steps from the cottage and beautifuls views from the living room and bedroom. It was quiet and felt remote but with all the amenities of Stornaway close to hand. We would love to return as we did not manage to see all the sights and the cottage was a perfect base for exploring.
  • The Frames
We stayed here for 2 weeks at the end of 2014, arriving just before the 'weather bomb' hit. We loved this cottage (and the island) - it is immaculately clean and well equipped - it looked brand new. Carmen and John were brilliant and let us know that they were on hand if needed but weren't intrusive, and I loved that they delivered a blanket and some hot chocolate when the power went out. We left feeling revitalised and with plans to return...

We had a wonderful time on the Isle of Lewis and staying in this lovely sea-side cottage!! What a relaxing week filled with wonderful sites and peaceful evenings! The property was more than I imagined and I would highly recommend it to anyone staying in the Isle of Lewis. The location was great, close enough to town for everything, but far enough away and secluded to enjoy the peaceful views and relax. We had absolutely no complaints and would love to stay here again!
  • Doreen Murray
We had a fabulous holiday, surroundings, scenery, weather brilliant - the house was fabulous 5 star luxury with everything you would need to enjoy your holiday. Extremely helpful hosts, great information on all aspects of the island allowing you to enjoy your stay. We'll be back.

Rest, relaxation and revitalisation - got all of this and more during our stay! Perfect place to stay, myself husband and 4 year old had our first holiday away together without 18 and 17 year old other children!. Was lovely to spend time together in such luxurious but welcoming surroundings. Thoroughly recommend to others, helpful hosts but not in your face - perfect. Hot tub is genius

(1 – 15 September 2012) “Truly lovely and superbly equipped cottage. Thank you to Carmen and John for only being a phone call away and the warmth of their welcome. We are going home feeling re-energised and well rested. We will definitely be recommending Peninsula Cottage to our friends and family.”
  • Mandy Sanerkin
“Had a fantastic stay here. The accommodation has more than you’d expect from a holiday let. Loved it, loved the décor & loved the hot tub.”
  • Janice Boyd
We have just returned from a week in the Peninsula Cottage , we had a lovely time , the cottage was lovely and very welcoming , we also made great use of the hot tub . We managed to go to some of the lovely beaches that you have. My friends and I hope to come back in the near future , Carmen and John were most helpful with anything we asked about . This made our stay in their cottage excellent , nothing was too much trouble. This was 5* luxury and a very relaxing week.

Peninsula, what a spectacular location. My wife and I spent the weekend for our wedding anniversary. It was perfect, the cottage was open plan, very warm and welcoming. It had amazing views of the sea, the beach which was a few minutes walk away plus I could see little lambs bouncing about in the fields out the back. We had a BBQ and then we relaxed and enjoyed a jacuzzi at 10 O' clock at night what a dream....... Beds are so comfy, best nights sleep. Well decorated, everything that you would expect from a 5 Star plus more. We enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend this cottage; it was a memorable holiday. See you next year!
