We have just spent a heavenly week at Berryburn House. It is a hidden haven set among beautiful farmland that you look out onto from many of the rooms. Big beautiful pots of pansies stand either side of the entrance. It looked very impressive in the photos but as you go up the sweeping drive it is even more beautiful in real life and what a treat to find the heating on and a lovely warm welcome. Although it is huge it has a lovely homely feel to it. It is absolutely ideal for a family gathering, such as ours, with the spacious garden, assortment of picnic tables and the children's play area, with swings and slide. There is loads of room for everyone to spread out and a fun games room with table football and Wii. The kitchen is large with a big table and there are 2 dishwashers and plenty of crockery so you never have to wash up. There is a little shop just a few minutes walk away and a big Tesco's in Annan. We cycled to Powfoot, about 10 miles away, a wonderful 'beach' with not a soul on it, ( maybe not everyone's cup of tea as it was slightly muddy sand and looked a bit dangerous for swimming, being estuary but it was incredibly beautiful) and we enjoyed a tasty lunch in The Powfoot Hotel overlooking the water. We had an idyllic walk along the edge of the river from Annan to Brydekirk and back the other side, about 6 miles in all. We visited the pretty artists town of Kirkcudbright. My favourite thing of all was watching the rabbits munching away at the grass and their babies frolicking and playing together. If you quietly peeped round the curtains they were there on waking and they were still there at dusk, along with the bats and birds. Bradley, the owner went out of his way to be helpful and always replied positively and promptly to my emails, I really hope to return. Thank you.

Our family of 14 (including 5 children under six) thoroughly enjoyed our week at Berryburn. Despite gloomy weather, we visited Caerlaverock Castle and a couple of Farm Centres with kids’ activities, the John Paul Jones Museum and Rockcliffe Beach. But Berryburn was better than all of them. The house is spacious, comfortable, luxurious and well maintained, with all the facilities you could wish for. Big enough for children to disappear in, but sufficiently compact to feel homely. Great for hide and seek. The house is located beside a railway line but trains pass so quietly that you hardly notice them. Indoors, you can’t hear the A74 either, but it might be noticeable outdoors on summer days, in the large and attractive garden. Its location makes it very accessible. The long dining table is ideal for big family meals. There is no sound system in the main room, but we streamed music via Spotify and wi-fi through the portable Sony speaker normally kept in the kitchen. We burned plentiful logs in the main room and it felt right cosy. I suggested to the owner that more games in the games room would be good, and a few more kitchen utensils, and he undertook to provide them all. Recommended!

Dear Bradley, I just wanted to say thank you very much for a wonderful stay at Berryburn. I am pleased to say that there are no breakages to report. The house was perfect for a large family gathering - we particularly appreciated the very comfortable beds and the log fire. We would love to come again some time, and would happily recommend it to others. Thanks once again Kind regards

What a super time we had at Berryburn last weekend. The house was full of character, so comfortable and everything there to make it such an enjoyable stay. Our family really enjoyed themselves and it could not have been a better location to celebrate a special occasion. The weather, too, was very kind enabling us to spend a lot of time in the garden. Thank you also for allowing us to arrive after midday on Friday and depart by midday yesterday. It was extremely helpful and much appreciated.

What can I say about this property?? There isn't enough words to describe it. We stayed here for our wedding 24/04/2014 it exceeded our expectations it was beautiful the views were amazing as my 2 year old said we looked out onto Mr Mcgregors garden (Peter rabbit). Definitely want to return. The owner was very lovely too.

Just wanted to thank you for renting out Berryburn to us. (March 2014) The family had a wonderfully relaxing weekend and we were lucky with the weather. The recommendation for the Station pub was taken up and we had a couple of good meals there. We all would like the say that the house fit our requirements so well as soon as we arrived it felt like a lovely well loved family home. The space in the property was ideal for three generations to be together or find a nice quiet corner. We have no hesitation in saying that we hope to have the opportunity to visit again.
