Property information

Built to a traditional design and to a high specification for both quality and style, Beinn Alligin faces south and commands views across Loch Torridon. The location is truly amazing and it will be difficult to leave this lovely retreat with all its surrounding beauty.

Torridon is best known for its mountains and dramatic coastal walks, its remote lochans and secluded bays. Those with a love of the wilder places and an appreciation of natural beauty will find no cause for complaint. Mountaineers will have difficulty deciding which of these spectacular hills to climb and will, no doubt, find themselves returning year after year.

Inside, you will find a house that has been created with love and such attention to detail that you cannot fail to be delighted with your choice. The main kitchen/sitting room is warmed by a multi fuel stove that is double-sided to benefit both halves of the room. Oak floors and granite work surfaces, plank and ledge traditional doors and a 'bath with a view' all add to the luxurious experience.

The Torridon Hotel restaurant is open to non resident and offers fine dining and an exceptional whisky bar. Further afield, but well worth the journey, is Applecross, reached by the famous Bealach na Ba (Pass of the Cattle) a mountain road of Alpine nature! Once at Applecross, don't miss the seafood at Applecross Inn.

The owners keep free range, rare breed hens and, when available, will leave you a selection of these lovely, deep yolk, freshly laid eggs. Come and experience Scotland's 'jewel in the crown' holiday destination and enjoy it from the comfort of this remarkable home.

    We stayed in Beinn Alligin from the 15th to the 22nd April and were particularly impressed with the property and its location. It is a spacious, light, modern house which enjoys stunning views over the loch and the mountains. The house is clearly lovingly looked after by its owners. Everything is perfect. The quality of the equipment, the luxury of the bedding, the immaculate bathrooms and the nice touch of toiletries. There were some delicious eggs and shortbread awaiting us on arrival and the owners very kindly posted back some items that we had left behind. We have stayed in many beautiful properties in Scotland but this is undoubtedly one of the best. We very much hope to return.

    We have stayed in a number of holiday cottages during the last 20 years but this is one of the most comfortable and well equipped places we have ever stayed in. It is also in a beautiful setting with magnificent views over Loch Torridon. If you're looking for peace and quiet in both beautiful surroundings and accommodation I would definitely recommend Beinn Alligin.

    We stayed in Beinn Alligin last week (13 - 20 June) and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The house is really comfortable, well-equipped and was immaculately clean and tidy for our arrival. The location is perfect for those (like us) who enjoy peace and quiet and the views are spectacular - behind the cottage to Beinn Alligin and across Loch Torridon in front. The main bedroom is large with ample space for clothes etc. and the bed is really comfortable. The bathroom is also large with a super shower. The kitchen and dining-area are light and roomy, with the kitchen easy to work in. The lounge is also very cosy and like all the front-facing rooms has stunning views. Although Wester Alligin is very quiet and out of the way, it is only 3 miles from Torridon and there are several places to enjoy food and drink within a few miles. An excellent self-catering property which we are happy to recommend and would be happy to use again. Many thanks. PS we really enjoyed the complementary hen's eggs!

    We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in early April 2015 - I honestly think Beinn Alligin is the loveliest holiday house we have ever stayed in, very comfortable (even luxurious) and with absolute everything we could need. We were lucky enough to have weather too warm for lighting either of the multi fuel stoves, but found the central heating very cosy in the evenings. Special mention has to go to the wonderful walk-in shower! We loved the fresh eggs and shortbread kindly left for us - thank you. We were also awestruck by the views over the loch - we arrived in mist, but were greeted by wonderful pink light and clearing blue skies over the beautiful loch next morning - the view from our bedroom! Sadly we had to leave a day early due to a walking injury, and appreciate the kind messages from the owners. We will certainly be back, and have no hesitation in recommending the house to others.     We had the pleasure of staying in this fantastic house for a week in April 2014. Having stayed all over Scotland in a variety of cottages this cottages leaves almost all of them in its wake. The house is very well equiped with everything that you could require provided. The views from the cottage are spectacular even when the weather is nasty outside you cannot help but watch as the showers pass the window. The local area provides plenty for outdoor enthusiasts with loads of great walks nearby and wildlife opportunities from your doorstep. We are very grateful to the owners for giving us the chance to stay in their beautiful home and we would have no hesitation returning in the future.

    As usual the house lived up to the brochure description,indeed surpassed it.The owners were exceedingly helpful and generous in their provision of basic necessities we might otherwise have forgotten to pack.Great views,good kitchen,warm,with extra coal if needed,comfy beds with quality linen,lovely bathroom.TV reception non-existent but that didn't bother us,it might bother some people though.

    We had a great time at Beinn Alligin in June 2010. The house is very well equipped and comfortable and situated in a wondeful location with views over Loch Torridon. We found that we could get most supplies at the shops in Torridon village and Shieldaig. We would highly recommend the boat trip to Rona from Shieldaig.
